Product Manager, Data Refinery & Tooling

Product Management at Capital One is a booming, vibrant craft that requires reimagining the status quo, finding value creation opportunities, and driving innovative and sustainable customer experiences through technology. We believe our portfolio of businesses and investments in growth and transformation will result in a company with the scale, brand, capabilities, talent, and values to succeed as the digital revolution transforms our society and our industry.

This is a foundational platform role requiring significant thought leadership. This leader will guide a critical modernization journey while also shaping our Commercial Bank's broader automation strategy. This person will also create a broader Data Tooling roadmap and drive adoption across the Commercial Bank.

Mission: To lead the product vision for Commercial's core data platform ("Refinery") through a modernization journey to decouple metrics from infrastructure. To own the product strategy for our RPA bot team, turning tactical wins into a strategic automation capability. To understand Data Tooling needs across the Commercial Bank and advocate for adoption.

Key Responsibilities:

Your goal will be to help stakeholders understand how this work meaningfully improves the business and how they can take part in it
  • Master Storytelling: Translate complex, dense technical work into a compelling narrative about business value and tech transformation for non-technical stakeholders
  • Stakeholder Management: Build partnerships and drive alignment across a challenging and technically deep subject area
  • Develop Automation Strategy: Act as the product manager for the RPA bot team, shaping an overarching automation strategy that can be socialized with leadership to deliver larger, more strategic wins
  • Cross LOB Partnership: Partner with your peers in the SBB Data Modernization space to identify areas of collaboration on Data Tooling and drive adoption of tooling across Commercial

Ideal Profile:

  • Strong background in platform product management or engineering leadership, with experience leading modernization initiatives
  • Deep technical expertise in modern data stacks and an understanding of RPA or other automation technologies
  • Masterful communication and storytelling skills, with proven experience influencing senior leaders and difficult stakeholders
  • Thought Leader: Able to see the entire ecosystem, develop a strong but flexible point of view, and influence others to follow it
  • Force Multiplier: Motivated by enabling the success of other teams through powerful platforms and tools
  • Resilient & Persuasive: Can navigate resistance and build consensus around complex, long-term technical investments
  • White Space Operator: Skilled at defining structure, process, and vision in new or poorly defined problem areas
  • AI-Curious: Eager to learn and apply AI tools to enhance brainstorming, requirements gathering, and product strategy

Capital One Product Framework: In this role, you'll be expected to demonstrate proficiency in five key areas which we consider to be the foundation for successful Product management:

  • Human Centered - Obsesses about internal and external customer needs to reimagine and innovate product solutions
  • Business Focused - Delivers game-changing outcomes by focusing on leverage and execution excellence
  • Technology Driven - Leverages technology to deliver innovative and resilient solutions that enable both near term and long term value
  • Integrated Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves complex problems to deliver outcomes while mitigating product risks
  • Transformational Leadership - Leads cross functional teams to solve customer problems and drive organizational alignment

Basic Qualifications:
