Electrical Designer (Junior-Level)
Cimarron is seeking junior-level Electrical Designers to provide design support for the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the Sentinel program in Ogden, UT. Cimarron provides engineering and technical support to Bechtel for the design, construction, and integration of the Sentinel launch infrastructure at locations to include Vandenberg AFB, CA, F.E. Warren AFB, WY, Malmstrom AFB, MT, and Minot AFB, ND. Sentinel is a vital US Air Force program that will recapitalize the nation's aging ground based leg of the nuclear triad -- the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). This is an on-site position that offers a 9X80 work schedule (i.e., every other Friday off), paid overtime, and a great work/life balance. For candidates not local to the Ogden area, a relocation allowance can be provided.

Key Duties:
- Work under the guidance of senior engineers and designers to develop electrical design products.
- Review client requirements and incorporate them into design solutions.
- Assist in modeling equipment and commodities for electrical designs.
- Extract relevant 3D model data into 2D drawings, apply proper annotations, and prepare construction-ready documents.
- Coordinate deliverable reviews with clients and other engineering disciplines, addressing and resolving feedback.
- Perform model reviews and resolve clashes with other commodities or disciplines.
- Ensure electrical system designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards, such as the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70).
- Contribute to the development of electrical designs, including:
- Grounding systems and equipment
- Lightning protection
- Equipment arrangement plans
- Raceway layouts (conduit, cable tray, underground duct bank)
- Bill of materials/material take-offs
- Interior and exterior lighting designs
- Construction installation details
- Cable routing
- Review and check design deliverables for quality, accuracy, neatness, and functionality.
- Participate in constructability reviews to ensure designs are practical for construction.
- Collaborate with designers from other disciplines to coordinate technical requirements.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
- Ability to obtain an Active Secret clearance in a reasonable timeframe.
- This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire. - Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other engineering disciplines.
- Capacity to manage conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
- Relevant experience includes drawings for electrical systems and equipment in nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience with 3D modeling software, including architectural interface, drawing generation, view templates, design options, and phasing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in using engineering and office automation tools.
- Ability to present technical issues clearly and concisely in both written and verbal formats.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve design issues independently and collaboratively with other disciplines, construction teams, and clients.
- Associate degree or certification and 1 or more years of experience.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Experience with SmartPlant 3D and SmartSketch for electrical designs.
- Active Secret Clearance.
- Experience working with government agencies, preferably the DoD.
