Job Overview

The role of the product owner will lead the definition and delivery of AI product capabilities within the risk and controls domain, with a strong focus on risk control self-assessment (RCSA) and monitoring and testing platforms. The role requires hands-on experience working in agile environments, partnering closely with business, risk, compliance, and technology teams to translate control and regulatory requirements into scalable, well-designed product solutions.

This role operates across multiple scrum teams, requiring strong dependency management, early identification of risks, and effective coordination across platforms and stakeholders. Experience with AI-enabled capabilities is must.

Responsibilities:

1. Creates and manages product backlog
2. Requirement gathering and elicitation
3. Makes use of research, user studies, metrics and competitive analysis to understand the customer and business needs for a platform product
4. Compares features for competitive review to inform prioritization within a product release
5. Participates with the business in customer research to inform priorities for platform product backlog.
6. Contributes near-term input (quarterly) for the platform product portfolio and roadmap
7. Facilitates trade-off decisions on platform product features
8. Exhibits expertise within platform feature area and coordinates with interdependent teams.
9. Has good awareness of platform feature health and delivers regular progress reports to stakeholders
10. Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement with peers and stakeholders
11. Helps define business, customer and platform use cases and requirements
12. Ensures features meet backlog entrance criteria
13. Creates user stories and system interaction diagrams for platform feature solution
14. Hosts user story grooming sessions
15. Informs the design of the user experience i.e. wireframes and mock-ups
16. Ensures appropriate backlog depth for continuous development
17. Determines release targets for the platform and prioritizes assigned features according to business and platform value, adjusting throughout implementation as needed
18. Continuously monitors feature development through maintaining bug catalogs at the feature level
19. Reviews product demo with the development team and stakeholders against acceptance criteria for the feature set
20. Prepares launches and monitors platform performance, adoption, and operational health for feature sets
21. Identifies issues that will keep the platform features from delivering on time and/or with the desired requirements and communicates to leadership
22. Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

• 5-8 years in a product development/product management environment
• Previous banking and finance background in product roles (experience in risk & control is a plus)
• Worked on at least 1 AI project end to end
• Understanding of gen AI and agentic AI
• Hands on with writing epics, stories, story maps
• Worked in agile (knowledge of SAFe agile is preferred)
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills
• Takes end to end ownership of deliverables
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; data driven and results-oriented
• Skilled at working with third party service providers
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Education:

• Bachelor's/university degree or equivalent experience
