Citi's Global Legal Affairs and Compliance (GLAC) empowers and protects Citi by providing legal, compliance, investigative, and security services to our firm. We manage compliance risk, provide legal analysis and advice, protect Citi's people and businesses, advocate for legal and regulatory outcomes that benefit our firm and our clients, and ultimately promote behavior that is consistent with Citi's mission and culture.

Trade and Working Capital Solutions is one of five business lines under Services (Liquidity Management, Payments, Investor Services, and Issuer Services). The Services business provides global solutions that help corporations, financial institutions, public sector, and commercial clients optimize operations and drive their business forward. The Services business has been performing well, generating strong revenue growth over the past several quarters. It is core to delivering Citi's long-term strategy by continuing to focus on client experience and excellence.

TWCS Legal is a global team of lawyers, based in six centers around the world, that provides product legal advisory to the TWCS Services business across all clusters. TWCS Services offerings fall under the following product pillars: Core Trade, Payables and Receivables Financing, Trade Loans, and Export Agency Finance, with sub-products under each pillar.

We're currently looking for a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Lead Counsel 1 - Product - C14 based in Mumbai, India. In this role, you're expected to:

• Acting as a team lead in terms of being a point of contact for the relevant Trade pillars
• Providing product legal advice to the TWCS Business primarily on cross-border deals, such as identifying any concerns/risks present in TWCS transactions/the deal structure, any deviations from product parameters, Citi standards, and other material legal or franchise issues, and/or deviations from the standard documentation, and develop pragmatic business friendly solutions to requirements while balancing compliance with multiple legal, regulatory and internal policy considerations
• Engaging in discussion/consultation with TWCS Legal colleagues in other clusters, and other legal teams (where necessary) on, among others, legal and franchise issues
• Drafting and/or reviewing complex product legal documentation for Asia clusters, and handling negotiations
• Working closely with Compliance, Risk, and other control partners with respect to advisory and documentation issues, both at the cluster and country level
• Advising on changes in law and regulations relevant to the Services business across key countries in the Asia clusters
• Initiating and driving global TWCS projects, including the development of new internal standard form templates and AI use cases for the team
• Reviewing new product/new program rollout in Asia

As a successful candidate, you'd ideally have the following skills and exposure:

• A minimum of 15 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm (covering/supporting commercial law or international trade law) or banking, financial institution, or any other corporate (covering/supporting the cross-border trade finance or loans business)
• Adept at managing contract negotiations and drafting
• Can proactively work, whether on an individual or team basis
• Financial regulatory experience is an advantage
• Knowledge of laws with respect to data privacy, electronic commerce, or digital signatures is a significant plus
• Fluency in English (both written and oral)
• B.A.LL.B (Hons.) or equivalent qualification from an accredited national university in India or elsewhere.
• Admitted to practice law in India or other common law jurisdiction.
