Automation Workstream Product Owner

In this position, you will:
- Own and manage the product backlog for FAA automation workstreams, ensuring priorities are aligned with program objectives.
- Define, refine, and prioritize requirements for automation across infrastructure, testing, and operations.
- Partner with leadership, engineers, and subcontractors to translate technical needs into actionable backlog items.
- Ensure automation solutions comply with federal standards, and cybersecurity requirements (NIST RMF, Zero Trust).
- Collaborate with systems architects and engineers to integrate automation into DevSecOps pipelines and cloud-native environments.
- Monitor progress of automation initiatives, ensuring on-time and high-quality delivery.
- Conduct stakeholder workshops, backlog grooming sessions, and sprint planning activities.
- Identify risks, dependencies, and gaps in automation delivery and work with cross-functional teams to resolve them.
- Prepare and deliver status updates, metrics, and recommendations for leadership and program management reviews.
- Stay informed of emerging automation tools, frameworks, and technologies to guide modernization efforts.
- Drive initiatives that enhance efficiency, scalability, and resiliency of FAA systems by embedding automation into infrastructure, testing, and operations workflows.
- Develop and manage metrics dashboards to measure automation performance and adoption.
- Define and managing automation requirements for mission-critical or safety-critical systems.

By managing the product backlog, aligning stakeholders, and guiding engineering execution, you will enable the FAA to accelerate delivery, reduce risk, and maintain the safety and efficiency that millions of travelers depend on every day.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship Required.
- Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Bachelor's degree and 12 years of experience; or Masters degree and 10 years experience; or Associate's degree and 14 years' experience; or HS diploma/equivalent and 16 years experience.
- Experience in product ownership or automation delivery roles.
- Demonstrated experience with automation frameworks, DevSecOps, and CI/CD pipeline integration.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their automation capabilities.
- Strong knowledge of federal compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST RMF, FedRAMP, Zero Trust).
- Strong background in risk management and compliance audits.
- Hands-on experience with automation testing frameworks and monitoring integrations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct FAA or NAS configuration management experience.
- Certifications such as SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, AWS Solutions Architect, or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO).
- Experience supporting FAA, DOT, DHS, or other federal modernization programs.
- Familiarity with FAA NextGen programs and automation dependencies in aviation infrastructure.
- Background in AI/ML-driven automation, predictive analytics, or intelligent orchestration.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to manage stakeholder engagement.
- Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and subcontractors for automation delivery.
Target Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
