Senior Interior Designer

Duties

  • You will serve as the Senior Interior Designer and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Interior Design Specialized Community of Practice (ID SCoP).
  • You will provide for horizontal coordination of interior design policy issues, program issues, and community management across all NAVFAC Components.
  • You will conduct coaching, mentoring, and training to lower graded Interior Designers.
  • You will perform all aspects of interior design for in-house projects for a wide variety of installation shore facility types.
  • You will coordinate interior design with the engineering disciplines for Design-Bid-Build (DBB) and Design-Build (DB) projects to ensure overall compatibility and efficiency of the site and building design.
  • You will conduct site investigation field trips to project sites, as required, to collect all pertinent data and refine or develop project scope by inspection of existing conditions and through meetings with the sponsoring and using activities.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Providing subject matter expertise to design team member in the areas of furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) design;
  • Identifying areas of risk associated with design and construction and develops mitigation strategies or alternatives;
  • Preparing scopes of work and Government fee estimates for Architecture/Engineering services pertaining to interior design;
  • Providing technical input for initial outfitting requirements with procurement agents, project managers, and end users; and
  • Providing coaching, mentoring, and training to lower graded Interior Designers.
