Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures. NG Space Systems - Propulsion Systems is currently seeking a Lead Designer in our Digital Design & Integration team supporting the Promontory, UT facility within Propulsion Systems. This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Create and maintain 3D geometric models of mechanical components, electrical harnesses, and assemblies using Siemens NX design tools.
  • Annotate PMI models and/or produce detailed engineering drawings using established NG and program design procedures.
  • Investigate design challenges and generate innovative solutions to meet technical requirements.
  • Create detailed, production-ready drawings for next-generation rocket motor designs.
  • Support the definition, development, and qualification of design changes to meet programmatic goals.
  • Apply technical skills and knowledge to achieve engineering objectives, including technical performance, cost optimization, and adherence to schedules.
  • As a Lead, the successful candidate will:
  • Monitor and manage project progress, ensuring completion within condensed timelines of 10 working days.
  • Establish and communicate clear priorities and deliverables across the team to ensure alignment with program requirements.
  • Serve as the point of contact for status updates, technical reviews, and potential roadblocks in the execution of assigned jobs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate resources, resolve design issues, and maintain seamless communication.
  • Anticipate and mitigate potential risks to meeting schedule commitments while ensuring design accuracy and compliance.
  • Foster a collaborative and efficient team environment, encouraging proactive problem-solving and accountability.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor's degree with 8 years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree with 6 years of professional experience - OR - PhD with 4 years of professional experience. Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
  • 10+ years CAD related experience (Siemens NX preferred)
  • At least 3 years leadership experience
  • Experience completing demands under tight deadlines, and a proactive approach to team leadership and problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Siemens NX with PMI in Teamcenter Unified Architecture
  • Experience in Engineering Design, Drafting, Manufacturing or Quality
