Network Designer

We are seeking an experienced Network Designer to support a variety of enterprise-level technology initiatives. This role involves collaborating closely with IT leadership and internal stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain communication and network systems that support organizational goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the identification, analysis, and documentation of requirements for LAN technologies and services (wireless, data, voice, video, cabling).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including transport, WAN/MAN, structured cabling, and project management—using an agile-inspired approach.
  • Manage work intake processes, backlog oversight, and request execution in coordination with IT leaders and project owners.
  • Develop and document network designs that meet architectural and security standards.
  • Prepare and oversee installation of complex implementation packages.
  • Provide Level 3 incident/problem support, including proactive maintenance and troubleshooting using network monitoring tools.
  • Support research and evaluation of new components and technologies.
  • Lead implementation planning for multi-technology initiatives using standard project management methodologies.
  • Apply strong critical thinking and innovative problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:

  • Active IAT Level 2 certification (DoD 8140).
  • 3+ years of experience with Cisco routers, switches, and IOS.
  • 3+ years of LAN/WAN design, implementation, and troubleshooting experience.
  • 3+ years working with Splunk/Syslog and log forwarding.
  • Strong understanding of Layer 2/3 networking, TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, multicast, QoS, DHCP, and NTP.
  • Experience creating Bills of Materials for project requirements.
  • Ability to support after-hours change windows and participate in on-call rotations (including weekends).
  • 5+ years of related professional experience (preferred).
  • Active Secret or Top Secret clearance (preferred).
  • Cisco certifications such as CCNA or CCNP (preferred).
  • Experience with IPSEC, GRE tunnels, Zero Trust, and DoD security/compliance standards (preferred).
  • Familiarity with SIPR/SDREN/DREN environments (preferred).
  • Experience with Type 1 encryptors, VRFs, and network segmentation (preferred).

Additional Requirements:

  • U.S. persons only (due to export compliance requirements).
  • Ability to work on-site.
  • Must hold an active U.S. Security Clearance or have held one within the past 24 months.
