Technical Product Manager

We are seeking an experienced Technical Product Manager to lead the productization and development of our Agile for Hardware, Concurrent Engineering and Product Line Engineering initiative. The successful candidate will define and deliver solutions that streamline engineering workflows, improve collaboration, and elevate overall design productivity. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your technical expertise, industry and Lockheed Martin knowledge, and product management skills to drive innovation and impact in the way we engineer and deliver valuable solutions to our customers.

Product Vision and Strategy: Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the design engineering "market," industry trends, and user needs to shape product vision and direction.

Product Roadmap: Define and manage the product roadmap, prioritizing features and capabilities that address customer pain points, executive input, and strategic opportunities.

Requirements Definition: Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including Solution Architects and Systems Engineering-to define and refine product requirements.

Technical Leadership: Provide technical oversight to ensure products meet customer needs, are scalable, and align with industry best practices.

Stakeholder Management: Communicate product plans, progress, and outcomes to key stakeholders, including internal teams, customers, and executive leadership.

Market Analysis: Conduct ongoing market research to stay informed about industry developments, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies.

Product Development: Partner closely with engineering teams to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of high-quality products.

Release Planning: Develop and execute release strategies, including user engagement, adoption planning, and change management initiatives.

Performance Measurement: Define and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess product success, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of the full software product development lifecycle
  • Demonstrated experience designing and/or producing physical systems in one or more primary engineering disciplines, such as Mechanical, Electrical, etc.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including leading software engineering teams and/or integrated product teams with a focus on performance, collaboration, and delivery.
  • Proven track record of leading teams within Agile environments, including direct experience applying Agile methodologies and/or the SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) to deliver value iteratively and efficiently.
  • Prior experience with productization and product development, including translating business initiatives into product definition.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience functioning as a Control Account Manager (CAM) or in a similar capacity, with responsibility for managing budgets, maintaining schedules, and ensuring technical performance across defined control accounts.
  • Familiarity with Lockheed Martin Engineering Design Principles, Processes, and Procedures, with experience supporting initiatives such as Model Based Systems Engineering, Set-Based Concurrent Engineering - Agile certification(s) such as Scrum Master, Product Owner/Product Manager, and/or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), with the ability to apply Agile practices effectively in complex, cross-functional environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams, leadership, and key stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in product management, technical program management, or a related discipline, with a focus on delivering mission-aligned outcomes.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience conducting feasibility analysis and aligning resources to strategic priorities.
  • Proficiency in managing budgets, resource planning, and project schedules to ensure successful and timely program execution.
  • Demonstrated success fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within integrated product teams.

  • Ability to Work Remotely: Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.
  • Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
  • Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
  • Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $120,100 - $208,150. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
