Nestled within a nature-rich estate of lush greenery and palm plantations, Mangala Estate Kuantan, Vignette Collection by IHG, is an idyllic 67-villa sanctuary and the first of its kind in Malaysia. Inspired by the healing of the land and water, this eco-luxury retreat is a haven for over 100 bird species, offering guests a rare connection to the environment.

As part of IHG's Vignette Collection, the property celebrates its unique character and authentic soul while upholding the "Means for Good" hallmark through a deep commitment to sustainability. From private pool villas and farm-to-table dining to a holistic wellness experience set against tranquil lakes, the estate is crafted for those who appreciate depth, authenticity, and a refined sense of place.

As Director of Sales & Marketing, you will oversee marketing-related sales, programs, and budgets and implement revenue targets and budget goals, evaluate team progress, and participate in securing sales and increasing the number of clients while identifying new ideas that will help drive the business and solving problems through strong interpersonal skills and efficient communication.

Your Day-To-Day

People

  • Manage daily sales activities, plan and assign work ensuring you always have the right staffing numbers
  • Develop your team and improve their performance through coaching and feedback, and create performance and development goals for colleagues - recognize good performance
  • Train colleagues to make sure they hit resort revenue goals to the standards we expect and have the tools they need to work effectively
  • Recommend or initiate any HR related actions where needed
  • Drive a great working environment for teams to thrive – connect departments to create sense of one team
  • Interact with outside contacts: guests, vendors, and other contacts as needed
  • Develop and maintain great working relationships with key clients and outside contacts to increase revenue
  • Participate in all industry related events

Responsible Business

  • Work closely with key business leaders, officials, and representatives of local community groups within the city to ensure constant high-profile exposure for the resort
  • Effectively communicate and market aspects of the resort that are sustainable or "green" and use information to gain new business opportunities
  • Work with advertising agencies, consulting firms, and vendors to maximize advertising investments and ensure ads represent brand identity
  • Raise the awareness and reputation of your resort and the brand locally – occasionally acting as resort representative for media related enquiries
  • Identify improvements to marketing activities and overall resort sales performance and work with other departments
  • Ad-hoc duties – unexpected moments when we have to pull together to get a task done; Manager on Duty functions
  • Keeping the General Manager and Revenue team informed of market insights

Guest Experience

  • Provide guests with information (example: loyalty programmes, area attractions, restaurants, facility information) to enhance guest experience
  • Schedule conventions and/or business group activities at the resort and coordinate with other resort-level departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients
  • Communicate to appropriate departments all pertinent information requirements and special needs for arriving VIP's, large groups, and other key guests
  • Lead marketing efforts to up sell guests on resort services, offerings, and amenities

Financial

  • Hit all personal/team sales goals and maximize profitability
  • Help prepare the departmental budget and financial plans including the resort marketing plan
  • Create and implement sales plans that drive measurable incremental occupancy, increase average rates, increase volume, food and beverage and banquet sales
  • Produce monthly reports and sales forecasts to analyze current/potential market and sales trends, coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share and monitor performance to ensure actual sales meet or exceed established revenue plan
  • Create and develop special events and sales blitzes to showcase the resort to potential clients. Attend trade shows and major market events locally and nationally to promote new business and increase sales and marketing opportunities for the resort
  • Ensuring the guests are aware of the Food & Beverage offerings offered, drive covers to the outlets

Accountabilities

  • This is the top sales and marketing job in a 1st vignette collection in Malaysia.
  • Resort may have multiple S&M set-up tasks and high-volume room, catering and/or convention facilities.
  • May manage a large number of professional level and administrative sales, catering, and/or convention employees.

What We Need From You?

  • 8+ years of sales and marketing related experience
  • Bachelor's degree in sales, business administration, marketing or communications
  • Possess prior leadership experience in directly managing a department within similar resort scope and display strong leadership competencies
  • Possess strong creative and analytical skills to create and assess impact of sales and marketing programs and be detail-oriented.
  • Must be able to travel to attend workshops, tradeshows, conventions, etc. and may be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Computer proficiency is required.
  • Highly developed written and verbal English communication skills to effectively negotiate, persuade, influence, and sell are critical
  • Proven track record of business milestones
