Product Manager

The Product Manager is responsible for researching and developing new products and coverages in addition to managing existing product lines as they relate to SECURA's market strategies and organizational initiatives for all market segments (Agribusiness, Commercial, and Specialty Lines). The Product Manager has a broad view across many business functions and aspects of insurance products to be responsible for long-term product strategy; monitoring market trends and emerging issues; managing assigned lines of business to remain current in the marketplace; and creation, implementation and maintenance of products in order to drive profitable growth. Additionally, the Product Manager ensures that products are compliant in each of our states.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors industry emerging trends, performs competitor research, obtains stakeholder feedback, and applies sound analysis of collected information to develop and present recommendations to Underwriting, Claims, Sales, Actuarial, and R&D leaders regarding new/revised products, coverages, pricing, and niche markets to drive profitable growth and support divisional and organizational initiatives
  • Maintains an understanding of SECURA philosophies, processes and expectations to effectively make recommendations regarding new and revised products and system requirements
  • Understands and analyzes current system functions and collaborates with IT to develop system requirements
  • Ensures regulatory compliance of all rates, rules and coverages for existing products, and develops new products in compliance with regulations
  • Assists in developing and presenting product training materials to project stakeholders and impacted SECURA associates such as Underwriting, Underwriting Services, Sales, Risk Management, Claims, and the independent agent force
  • Works closely with Project Managers and Product Analysts on such things as insurance department filings, project charters, project plans, rate reviews, bureau circulars, and more
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the various departments within SECURA and external business partners
  • Assists with answering questions from various departments regarding SECURA's rates, rules, and coverages
  • Participates in ad hoc projects and other committees as needed
  • No direct supervisory responsibilities
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of Commercial, Specialty, and Agribusiness Lines of Insurance is required
  • Possess both analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong project management skills, with ability to manage and prioritize multiple ongoing projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas and recommendations as well as foster strong working relationships across the company
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Self-starter, must be able to complete projects with little direct supervision
  • Life-long learner – frequently searches for opportunities to learn new skills, expand knowledge base, or ways to improve the status quo
  • Three or more years of Commercial Property and Casualty Insurance experience required

Preferred:

  • Commercial multi-line underwriting, claims, product development and/or staff underwriting experience is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred
  • CPCU, AIC, AINS or similar designation(s) is preferred
