The primary function of the Customer Order Designer (COD) is to provide either mechanical design or electrical design and documentation support for our electrical switchgear and control products. The incumbents for this role will apply their working knowledge of switchgear and control products to solve complex order design requirements. Specific roles will be assigned based on the candidate skillsets demonstrated and the needs of our engineering operations.
This position utilizes CAD technology to perform either 2D/3D mechanical designs or schematic and wiring details. The role requires technical work requiring a high degree of creativity as well as technical design and drafting skills, demonstrating a thorough understanding of basic materials, mechanical and electrical principles, and manufacturing concepts in the development of standard product designs and/or processing of customer orders of the most complex nature.
This includes, but is not limited to engineering designs, collaborating with Customer Order Engineers, Application Engineers and Manufacturing Associates, utilization of design automation software, and producing/maintaining manufacturing documentation.
The work hours for this position are 12:00PM – 9:00PM to provide coverage for our 2nd shift operations. Alternate hours providing later start and end times may be considered if presented by the successful candidates.
