Information Designer/Architect
The Information Designer/Architect transforms complex data and information generated by the Market Intelligence and Analytics team into easily understandable and visually appealing formats. They create effective communication materials such as infographics, charts, dashboards, and reports for the organization. Additionally, the role involves designing the structure and organization of information for internal SharePoint sites, reporting applications (e.g., PowerBI), PowerPoint presentations, other Microsoft applications, and various digital spaces. This ensures that users can effortlessly find and navigate content, thus enhancing the overall user experience.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Data Visualization: Creating charts, graphs, infographics, dashboards, reports, and other visual elements to represent and summarize data provided by MI&A team.
- Information Architecture: Developing strategies for organizing and labeling content to ensure its easily accessible and understandable. Designing intuitive and user-friendly information spaces. Design and manage internal web sites, SharePoint directories, and other content directories.
- Content Strategy & Organization: Structuring and presenting information in a clear, concise, and engaging manner, focusing on user understanding and accessibility. Develop a long-term strategy and vision to manage the vast amount of content developed by the team.
- User Interface (UI)/ User Experience (UX) Design: Designing user interfaces for data-based applications, ensuring intuitive navigation and interaction.
- Research and Analysis: Understanding data sources, analyzing data trends, and identifying key insights to inform design decisions
- Collaborate with the MI&A team members: Work with MI&A team members and other internal stakeholders to understand requirements and design solutions.
- Communication: Effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., design, marketing, computer science) or equivalent experience.
Minimum experience required of the position
- Information Designer II: 0 to 5+ years of work experience in data and information designing and/or data analytics related role is required. Experience in energy related field is desired.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position
- Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze user needs, content, and system requirements
- Strong Design Skills: Proficiency in visual communication, typography, color theory, and layout principles.
- Visualization Skills: Familiarity with user experience design principles and data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, R) is a major plus.
- Data Analysis Skills: Basic knowledge of programming languages like Python for data manipulation and analysis is also beneficial.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with common design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma etc.). Familiarity with tools for creating sitemaps, wireframes, and other IA deliverables. A basic understanding of HTML and CSS is helpful for understanding how information is displayed on websites.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey information.
