Expert Product Owner

We currently have a vacancy for an Expert Product Owner fluent in English, to offer his/her services as an expert will be based in Brussels, Belgium. The work will be carried out either in the company's premises or on site at customer premises. In the context of the first assignment, the successful candidate will be integrated in the team of the company that will closely cooperate with a major client's IT team on site.

Your Tasks:

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of the goals, constraints and desired objectives of the products, including legal and policy drivers;
  • Own, manage and continuously refine product backlog based on business feedback, legal priorities and delivery constraints;
  • Ensure short- and long-term priorities are well known, agreed and committed by the business and that decisions are documented and traceable;
  • Create and maintain user stories change requests and tasks for the development team, including clear, testable acceptance;
  • Define and validate acceptance tests for user stories in cooperation with stakeholders (business) and the delivery team;
  • Communicate product vision, requirements and to the team during backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews and other relevant ceremonies;
  • Interact with and validate requirements with the business unit(s) and other, facilitating workshops and requirement-gathering sessions;
  • Ensure alignment between GUI and API capabilities, and validate that the system evolution support business and legal needs;
  • Plan and coordinate delivery activities across iterations (including roadmap input, release planning, milestones and sequencing);
  • Track progress agreed scope and objectives, ensuring transparency of delivery status, risks, issues, dependencies assumptions and decisions;
  • Coordinate dependencies with other teams, corporate platforms, services and external stakeholders, and propose mitigation and escalation when required;
  • Support/or lead defect triage, prioritisation and follow-up to resolution, ensuring business where needed;
  • Coordinate business acceptance activities (UAT), including planning, support, issue follow-up and formal acceptance at each cycle, as applicable;
  • Contribute to release readiness (including documentation, stakeholder communications, operational considerations and go/no-go inputs) in line with the Commission's processes and constraints;
  • Regular progress reporting and prepare concise status updates and decision material for project governance and senior ensuring stakeholders have appropriate visibility of scope, priorities and delivery;
  • Produce and maintain delivery artefacts as required (e.g. meeting minutes and action lists, decision records, delivery plans, backlog documentation and notes), in coordination with the project manager and governance needs.
