Job Description

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate eager to join our team, assisting key industry producers and market participants by providing industry-leading forest products mill intelligence solutions, including manufacturing cost benchmarking and asset database products.

The analyst will be part of a dynamic global team of mill cost engineers and analysts responsible for delivering deep insights into global manufacturing technology and economics. You will leverage Fastmarkets data, networks and proprietary models to create powerful tools and analysis, enabling our customers to make the best decisions for their businesses.

Principal responsibilities

  • Deliver best in class manufacturing cost benchmarking analysis and mill asset through research, analysis, and proprietary modelling
  • Contribute to Fastmarkets' "house view" on trends and relative performance in global techno-economic asset performance by grade, region, and process technology
  • Provide regional insights in methodology development and refinement, including process economics, mill cost accounting, and unit cost resource assessment
  • Support commercial teams in achieving strong customer relationships and industry recognition for mill intelligence services
  • Provide insights for platform development needs and collaborate with product and technology teams to achieve based on market inputs
  • Leverage mill intelligence capabilities to help deliver custom research reports and single client consulting studies
  • Develop strong personal capabilities in all required coverage areas and competencies
  • Maintain an ongoing knowledge base of best practices and competitive offerings within the global mill intelligence marketplace

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, driven, and have a passion to be part of a fast-paced, successful team. Being a strong team player is also important as well as someone who is happy to work flexibly.

  • Knowledge of pulp and paper industry technology and manufacturing economics with background in process engineering/ production, strategic consulting, and/or commodity research, targeting 2-5 years of experience
  • Manufacturing experience in integrated pulp and paper operations with engineering background preferred.
  • Strong acumen and desire for product development is essential
  • Ability and demonstrated experience on cross-functional teams comprised of both technical and research-related resources
  • Skilled in complex problem-solving with ability to synthesize disparate data streams into holistic facility analysis and estimates
  • Experience in using and implementing AI technologies for data acquisition and automated model processing
  • Fluent in English
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel when required
  • A personal forest products industry contact network is desirable
  • Effective communication skills in person, in writing and during presentations
