Manager, Sports Marketing for Foot Locker

This hybrid position will be located at our Corporate Office in New York City. Expectations for hybrid in-office schedule is three days a week, typically Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The Manager, Sports Marketing for Foot Locker will serve as a strategic leader within the Brand Marketing organization, responsible for shaping and executing initiatives that deepen Foot Locker's connection to basketball and sneaker culture. Working closely with the Director of Sports Marketing, this individual will execute the end-to-end campaign strategy, partner relationships, and cross-functional alignment across brand, retail, and digital channels. This role requires a highly strategic, solutions-oriented thinker with strong leadership and communication skills who can balance creative vision with operational excellence. The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative, and passionate about driving cultural relevance and business impact through sport.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Brand Leadership: Drive the development and execution of the annual sports marketing strategy, connecting brand storytelling, basketball culture, and commercial priorities across Foot Locker's ecosystem.
  • Campaign Development: Oversee concept development and creative execution for basketball-related campaigns, ensuring integration across digital, experiential, and retail touchpoints.
  • Partnership Leadership: Serve as a senior liaison with key partners (Nike, Jordan, and other vendor partners) to build joint marketing plans, negotiate deliverables, and ensure alignment with brand priorities and business objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams—including Creative, VM, Retail Marketing, and Social—to ensure seamless execution and measurement of campaigns that drive awareness, engagement, and sell-through.
  • Agency and Budget Management: Lead external agency relationships, scopes of work, and creative development processes; manage budgets, timelines, and deliverables with accountability and precision.
  • Brand Strategy Alignment: Ensure all sports marketing programs ladder up to Foot Locker's strategic pillars (Culture, Community, and Commerce) and reflect our positioning as The Home Court for Young Hoopers.
  • Performance Reporting & Insights: Define success metrics, measure campaign performance, and translate learnings into actionable insights to optimize future initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree; Marketing or related field preferred
  • Passion for basketball and sneakers or sneaker culture
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in sports marketing or related role, with a proven track record of managing successful campaigns and partnerships
  • Strong understanding of the basketball sports industry, including knowledge of sponsorships, fan engagement, and media relations
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and external partners (agencies, vendors, sports organizations)
  • Confident project manager and problem-solver with ability to work in a deadline driven work environment, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
  • Ability to manage and execute partnership campaigns and budgets of $10M+
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Presentation software experience especially in PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite helpful
  • Knowledgeable in AirTable

Benefits

  • The annual base salary range is $80000 - $90000 / year.
  • This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance.
  • Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
