Associate Director, Program Design

The Associate Director, Program Design will support the Advanced Therapies Sales and Program Design teams and partner with site technical and operations teams in acquiring new business for Fujifilm Biotechnologies Lifesciences. Internally and in collaboration with customers, the program design team provides technical guidance for customer program opportunities and are responsible for directing the proposal and program scoping processes. The job holder will be focused on Fujifilm Biotechnologies' Advanced Therapies business segment (i.e. cell and gene therapy) and will be US-based (remote or in proximity to FUJIFILM Biotechnologies sites). Regular out of hours calls may be required and periodic travel to FUJIFILM sites (College Station, TX; Thousand Oaks, California; Darlington, UK), industry conferences, and customer sites will be required.

Job Description

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Provide support to the acquisition of new customers, primarily located in the United States (15%)
  • Support the technical aspects of customer meetings and teleconferences (15%)
  • With direction and support from the Program Design and technical operations teams (40%):
    • Review customer RFPs
    • Prepare proposals in response to RFPs
    • Define program scope, siting/location, timelines, and resources
    • Propose program pricing based on internal guidance and pricelists
    • Convert awarded program proposals to scope(s) of work (SOW)
    • Support and/or drive execution of SOW and program handover to technical teams
  • Support the overall sales process, including SoW development, Stage Gates, customer meetings and requests, proposal content and historical databases, and manage proposal information and data. Assist in the Program Design team's improvement efforts and initiatives. (10%)
  • Aid in Program Design's engagement with the Technical Leads, commercial, Process Development, and manufacturing teams to refine Fujifilm's technical offering to better match customer requirements. (10%)
  • Attend or present at webinars and conferences to support Fujifilm's technology and commercial advancements, as well as keep up to date with current industry advancements. (5%)
  • All other duties as assigned from time to time

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's of Science in a relevant biological sciences field (e.g., cell/molecular biology, biochemistry, virology)
  • Understanding of modality specific process development, analytics, scale-up, GMP manufacturing, and regulatory considerations for cell/gene therapy products.
  • 3+ years of technical experience in an applicable role (e.g. within Fujifilm, other CDMO, or technical position) supporting the development of advanced therapy products.
  • Experience in at least one of the following: cell-culture-based production, gene therapy, cell therapy virology, microbial production, purification, or analytical technology.
  • Understanding of, and experience with cGMP manufacturing a plus.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master's of Science in a relevant biological sciences field (e.g., cell/molecular biology, biochemistry, virology)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written communication skills, accurate and concise and able to strike the balance between sales and technical writing.
  • Ability to interact with external customers in a professional and personable manner and to present a competent image of Fujifilm at all times.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and present clear solutions.
  • Ability to influence customers and colleagues at all levels.

The US salary range for this position is $161,000 to $200,000. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
