Lead Product Manager, Search & Discovery

The Lead Product Manager, Search and Discovery is responsible for defining and executing the product strategy for how users search, navigate and discover events across our platforms. This role is crucial for our continued growth, as a key driver of both new user acquisition, nurturing and retention. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in search, recommendation engines, and personalization with experience in large catalogue based e-Commerce businesses, to drive innovation and deliver an intuitive and powerful discovery experience for our users. The candidate will have significant experience partnering with other teams including marketing to enable an integrated user experience from the product through to nurturing and lifecycle marketing campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap for our search, discovery and landing page experiences, aligning them user needs and company goals.
  • Responsible for all stages of product development and delivery, including: ideation, research, business modeling, technical specifications, building, launching, measuring, optimizing and scaling. Some of the work will focus on brand new products/features and other aspects will include optimization and growth of existing products.
  • Lead a dedicated product team, partnering closely with engineering, data science and product design to develop the domain strategy, planning and roadmap and defining clear, actionable requirements for engineering and design teams.
  • Analyze user behavior and market trends to identify opportunities to improve search relevancy, event discoverability, and personalized recommendations.
  • Define, monitor, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of product initiatives and make data-driven decisions.
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with engineering, design, data, research, marketing, security, legal, and other teams to build out an engaging, valuable and differentiated products.
  • Communication: Articulate the problem you're solving, the vision you are going after, write crisp and clear requirements and communicate the strategy, plan, challenges and constraints to senior management and various collaborators.

Technical Skills:

  • Search and Discovery Expertise: Proven experience in catalogue based e-Commerce businesses, where you have balanced user navigation to the most relevant products, enabling personalization and increased relevancy and integration with marketing lifecycle capabilities have all been a focus.
  • Customer Focus: Be the advocate for our customers and understand the needs of our community to build delightful experiences.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to leverage data analytics platforms (e.g., Amplitude, Tableau) to derive insights, inform product decisions, and measure outcomes.

  • AI learning and experimentation: demonstrated experience introducing AI capabilities into the product development process, both enabling new ways of working in product management and new user solutions made possible through AI

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Exceptional ability to work with and influence diverse teams, including engineers, designers, data scientists, and business stakeholders.
  • Effective Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly articulate product vision and requirements to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Cross-functional partnership: bring proven expertise and success in cohesively partnering across engineering, product design and data science to achieve an integrated and successful product strategy

  • Data-Driven Judgment: Demonstrates strong critical thinking and the ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to make sound product decisions.
  • Proactive Innovation: Proactive in identifying complex user pain points and developing innovative solutions that balance user needs with business objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 7+ years of product management experience, with at least 3 years focused on search, discovery, or personalization in a B2C software environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Master's degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Experience: Experience with machine learning applications, natural language processing (NLP), or AI-driven recommendation systems.
  • Other: Prior experience working in an agile development environment.

Performance Metrics

  • Search and Discovery Metrics: Increased user engagement, nurturing and key conversion metrics (e.g., click-through rate, search-to-purchase conversion).
  • Roadmap Delivery: Successful execution and launch of key product initiatives within a set timeframe.
  • Team Performance: Mentorship and development of the product team, as measured by team member growth and project success.
