About The Role:

The Telematics And Network Services Product Manager is responsible for leading strategy and implementation of wireless communication platforms to support GM's connected car business. The Product Manager will define and manage a portfolio of connectivity solutions from conception through end of life. The Product Manager will work with the associated sales and marketing teams to understand the customer needs, prioritize the roadmap, and deliver the connectivity platform expansions to drive progress towards GM's goal of 100% of vehicles connected globally. This role will specifically focus on connecting new markets globally. We are seeking a seasoned Product Manager who has experience driving digital product introduction in global markets via a global cross-functional team.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Develop comprehensive understanding of market needs requiring connectivity solutions
  • Create planning and roadmap materials to communicate at the 2 month to 24 month time horizon and beyond with the requisite level of detail
  • Develop Product Requirements Documents and partner with Program Management to drive through the portfolio prioritization process.
  • Work closely with engineering, business stakeholders, and senior leadership to ensure alignment on priorities, timelines, and goals.
  • Create and drive product area KPIs to align organization with key success metrics for the product area
  • Work closely with multiple internal and external software development teams, taking a pragmatic and "do what it takes" attitude to encourage progress on assigned product areas
  • Work with mobile network operators (MNOs) and other technology providers in each country to define and deliver solutions
  • Balance UX, technology, and business needs making hard decisions and trade-offs via prioritization
  • Provide direction to analytics, market research, and applied insights teams on what needs and concepts require investigation and validation to support new demand opportunities
  • Analyze, interpret, evaluate, plan, and influence decisions across stakeholders and diverse partners.
  • Contribute to the culture of the team with a vision towards a world-class product management team
  • Maintain effectiveness in constantly evolving environment.
  • Collaborate with a diverse set of business partners (internal and external).
  • Ability to communicate powerfully and proficiently and influence other organizations without a direct reporting relationship.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • 10+ years in product development, product management or software development
  • Connected vehicle, telematics, large/enterprise platform or IoT experience
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively represent and negotiate critical market needs within with GM and external partners, while maintaining reputation as a trusted and valued partner.
  • Significant experience leading globally distributed teams to launch products in markets around the globe.
  • Experience writing product requirements and acceptance criteria with cross functional collaboration
  • Strong experience in communicating cross-functionally, across management levels, both within the company and with key partners or customers in both formal and informal settings.
  • Experience with products where features impact both embedded device and cloud applications (i.e. "connected features")
  • Ability to travel as necessary to GM facilities, supplier facilities and other locations as needed to fulfill job responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability in developing cutting-edge consumer and enterprise applications
  • Solid background in both distilling business needs and translating them into the ideal technical solution(s).
  • Background in sequencing and timing of features that entails matching delivery to customer needs
  • Solid experience in engaging business stakeholders to determine value that will be considered as part of economic value, trade off decisions, or path to realization.
  • Ability to pull together a cohesive customer experience across all platforms and channels driving for understanding of the customer at the enterprise level
  • Bachelor's degree or the background and experience that demonstrates a similar level of strong professional skills and practices

What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience with cellular communications and general connectivity knowledge
  • Industry certifications in Product and/or Program Management methodologies
  • Startup, digital or software development experience preferred
  • Experience leading connected vehicle or IoT programs for a major OEM or Service Provider
  • Experience as a feature owner or similar lead role.
  • Understanding of the vehicle development process and key milestone requirements at one or more automotive OEMs
  • A master's degree in a related discipline, or the background and experience that demonstrates a similar level of strong skills and practices
  • Demonstrated knowledge in multiple software development methodologies (i.e. Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, etc.), and demonstrated success integrating output from teams with differing methodologies

Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position, as well as geography of the selected candidate. The salary range for this role is 134,700 and 207,600. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
