Marketing Management Adjunct Instructor

Under general supervision, teach various Marketing Management and related business classes to community college students. May be assigned to any SLCC location. Courses may include Intro to Marketing, Customer Service, Consumerism, Promotions, Sales, Professionalism in Business, Business Presentations, and/or other marketing management courses. This is a pooled position. The department reviews applications as positions become available. This position is paid at $1,056 per instructional unit. Please attach resume or curriculum vitae, copy of transcripts, or other documents for consideration. In accordance with SLCC policy, adjunct positions are offered on a semester-by-semester basis with no guarantee of continued employment. Official transcripts are required for those who are offered employment within in 30 days of hire.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Following the course curriculum outline, preparing and delivering lectures and other classroom activities.
  • Becoming familiar with, and abiding by, all college policies with immediate priority given to those policies that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization.
  • Maintaining professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Providing appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments.
  • Returning graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards.
  • Maintaining student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades.
  • Conducting a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance.
  • Informing students of progress-to-date periodically and assigning and submitting grades by published deadlines.
  • Assisting in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment.
  • Preparing and submitting incident reports to Dean of Student Services for inappropriate student behavior as defined by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy.
  • Maintaining professional and collegial behavior.
  • Handling/responding to student concerns/complaints, and responding to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 1-2 days).
  • Maintaining professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure.
  • Completing all required employee trainings.
  • Knowing and enforcing FERPA guidelines.
  • Providing ADA accommodations as requested.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
  • All Faculty will maintain an on-site campus presence to encourage in-person relationships and create engaging, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences unless approved for on-line only courses. You are employed as an Adjunct Faculty member/Instructor on a contract-to-contract basis, with no future expectation or obligation for employment. Your employment may be terminated At Will at any time. You are required to maintain professional boundaries with all SLCC students.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business or Marketing from an accredited college or university OR Master's degree in closely related field, AND verification of completion of degree requirements by time of employment with official transcripts.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Three (3) years non-teaching, full-time (or full-time equivalent) work experience in Marketing, or related field.
  • College level teaching or corporate training experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in technology-enhanced instruction.
