Airport Marketing Manager
Under administrative direction, assists in the marketing, promotion, and implementation of divisional or departmental activities and programs. Conducts sales presentations. Attends trade shows related to work unit activities and programs. Maintains liaison with other organizations, prospective clients, and suppliers. Performs other job-related duties as required.
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university required. Four-years of full-time paid marketing experience required. (Substitution: Two years of any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may substitute for each year of college education lacking.) Valid State of Ohio Driver's License required.
Additional Requirements:
- Must successfully complete a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) 10-year fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check and employment background check and Security Threat Assessment.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
- This position may require availability outside standard business hours for crisis response or major airport events.
- On-site presence at CLE is required to support airport operations and emergency response coordination.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional marketing experience, including integrated campaign planning and execution.
- Experience managing staff and external agencies or vendors.
- Strong understanding of multi-channel marketing strategy and execution.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Experience in aviation, transportation, tourism, public sector, or destination marketing.
- Familiarity with place-based marketing, passenger experience, or wayfinding initiatives.
- Experience working as an internal agency or centralized marketing function.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Marketing Manager will lead airport-wide marketing initiatives that support passenger growth, operational priorities, and the overall guest experience. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Marketing, Communications & Guest Experience, this role serves as a central marketing leader for the airport by translating strategy into integrated campaigns that support all airport departments, partners, and stakeholders.
The Marketing Manager will oversee a growing marketing team, including a Marketing Specialist, and will play a key role in shaping the airport's marketing function as demand and scope continue to expand. This position also serves as the primary point of contact for the airport's agencies of record, ensuring alignment, performance, and accountability across external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies that support initiatives across all airport departments.
- Serve as the internal marketing agency for Cleveland Hopkins, partnering with departments to scope needs, recommend solutions, and deliver cohesive, on-brand marketing campaigns.
- Translate strategic priorities set by the Assistant Director into actionable marketing plans with defined goals, timelines, and KPIs.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to the Marketing Specialist, ensuring clarity of roles, priorities, and deliverables.
- Support the continued growth of the marketing team by helping define future roles, workflows, and best practices as the department scales.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture focused on accountability, creativity, and passenger-focused outcomes.
- Serve as the primary manager of relationships with the airport's marketing, creative agencies of record, ensuring alignment with airport goals, brand standards, and performance expectations.
- Lead agency coordination across campaigns, including briefing, scope development, timeline management, and deliverable review.
- Evaluate agency performance and provide input on contract renewals, scopes of work, and procurement processes in partnership with leadership and procurement teams.
- Partner closely with the Communications Manager to ensure coordination between marketing campaigns, messaging strategy, and earned media efforts.
- Collaborate with the Guest Experience Manager to promote GX programs, amenities, service enhancements, and on-site initiatives in a passenger-centric manner.
- Coordinate with airlines, concessions, community partners, and other external stakeholders on joint promotions and marketing initiatives.
- Ensure consistency of brand, tone, and visual standards across all marketing materials in accordance with airport branding guidelines.
- Oversee creative development in partnership with internal design resources and external agencies.
- Lead campaign execution across digital, social, email, print, out-of-home, and in-terminal channels.
- Establish and monitor KPIs to evaluate marketing effectiveness and inform future strategy.
- Manage marketing budgets, vendor contracts, and campaign timelines.
- Support procurement and contract management related to marketing and creative services.
