Under general direction, the purpose of the position is to provide architectural and urban design support for City projects and development proposals in support of the City's Vision.
- Develops and manages project timelines and deliverables from concept to completion for architectural design projects, focusing on City aesthetics.
- Develops, coordinates, and prepares design plans for City projects and shall sign and seal plans.
- Develops and updates architectural guidelines and standards for the City; responsible for implementation of Design Guidelines, including updates.
- Coordinates architectural design plan projects, including preparation, analysis, review, and presentation.
- Prepares visual presentation materials and produces 2D and 3D visualizations using specialized design software (e.g., CAD).
- Coordinates City projects during the design phase including preparing plans; reviews and oversees the inspection of City design projects.
- Provides minor architectural services to residents and business/property owners for property improvement projects; produces minor plans to assist with project completion.
- Participates in the review of projects prepared by professional consultants and prepares recommendations.
- Prepares reports and recommendations for consideration and action by various city, county, and state regulatory and administrative boards.
- Assists the Zoning Manager and Community Development with various projects in the City.
Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning or related field. One (1) to two (2) years of experience as an architect and in urban design. Licensed architect, registered in the State of Florida, is required. AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) is preferred.
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.
