Graduate Assistant
As the center of student life on campus, The Elliott Student Union (ESU) is a welcoming space dedicated to providing facilities, services, and programs while supporting educational life in an environment that fosters community and enhances the campus experience.
Examples of Duties
- Fully support the ESU's mission and assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing plan for the ESU and UBC
- Create engaging content and effectively utilize the ESU and UBC's social media platforms to highlight students, events, services, partners, and organizations
- Schedule and coordinate marketing tables for the Elliott Student Union
- Photograph events
- Assist in planning and implementing traffic-generating programs for the Elliott Student Union, including Welcome Experience, The Union Birthday, Holiday Market, and Bowling with The Bests
- Analyze and report ongoing market research to better understand the needs, perceptions, preferences, and satisfaction levels of specific ESU segments
- Collaborate with other Graduate Assistants and full-time staff to plan monthly and semester-based student employee trainings
- Supervise and schedule the Marketing Team members
- Assist in Union Operations, including opening, closing, supervising the facility, supporting frontline service areas (Information Desk, Union Bowling Center, The Mule Post, Union Cinema, etc.), answering phones, and working cooperatively to provide seamless, high-quality customer service
- Perform other duties as assigned
Typical Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree Required in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or related field
Currently admitted to a UCM graduate degree program
3.0 or higher graduate level GPA if previous graduate level courses have been taken
2.7 or higher undergraduate level GPA if no previous graduate level courses have been taken
Preferred Skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Effective communication skills (oral, written, and nonverbal)
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines
- Solid understanding of various social media platforms
- Proficiency in Google Suite
- Knowledge of a University environment
- Experience in Graphic Design, Photography, and Video Production
- Ability to maintain confidentiality

GA Hour Expectations: 20 hours a week

Total Stipend for Semester: $4,950.00
Working Days & Hours: Varies - 20 hours per week
Special Working Conditions:
- On-call/standby work required
- Irregular work hours, including evenings and weekends
- May assist with facility opening and closing during inclement weather
- Ability to work in stressful conditions
