Iowa DOT's Construction and Materials Bureau is looking for a graphic design intern to work alongside staff on updating and reformatting technical training manuals. In this position, you will be responsible for redesigning and reformatting existing training manuals to meet current branding standards and web accessibility requirements, as these materials will be published to the Iowa DOT website.
Applicants should have experience with publication design and graphic design for both print and digital applications. Candidates must have knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, as well as Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, be comfortable working with large volumes of technical content, and have a working knowledge of accessibility standards (such as WCAG guidelines) as they apply to digital documents and publications.
This position is located in Ames in the Construction and Materials Bureau. To qualify, students must be currently enrolled in a program related to the position, such as graphic design, visual communications, or a related field.
This is a paid position with the expectation to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer, with the opportunity to transition to a part-time internship working between 10 – 20 hours per week during the academic year.
Currently enrolled students in a degree program at an accredited educational institution.
