Senior Fire Alarm Designer

A well-established and highly respected fire protection company in the Tampa area is actively seeking an experienced Senior Fire Alarm Designer to join their growing team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated professional looking to work on large-scale and complex projects while positioning themselves for future leadership and management growth within the organization.

The company is seeking someone with a strong fire alarm design background; however, experienced professionals from other areas of fire protection systems will also be considered if they have the technical aptitude and desire to transition into fire alarm design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and layout fire alarm systems for large and complex commercial projects
  • Ensure designs comply with NFPA standards along with local, state, and federal codes
  • Prepare detailed drawings, submittals, and specifications using AutoCAD, Revit, and related design software
  • Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents for accuracy and constructability
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, installers, and field personnel throughout project execution
  • Provide technical support during installation, inspections, and system commissioning
  • Work directly with AHJs for approvals and project compliance
  • Mentor and assist junior designers with the opportunity to grow into a leadership role

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in fire alarm system design preferred
  • NIET Level III or IV in Fire Alarm Systems is highly preferred
  • Candidates with significant experience in other fire protection systems are encouraged to apply
  • Strong working knowledge of NFPA codes and fire protection standards
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and related drafting/design software
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Prior experience mentoring or leading team members is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or related field is preferred but not required
