Truss Designer

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Truss Designer to join our team. This individual will be responsible for designing roof and floor truss systems for residential, multifamily, and commercial projects while ensuring designs meet all engineering specifications, local building codes, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing roof and floor truss systems using MiTek, Alpine, or equivalent truss design software
  • Reviewing architectural and structural plans to create accurate and efficient truss layouts
  • Ensuring all truss designs comply with local building codes, engineering standards, and customer specifications
  • Collaborating with sales teams, engineers, production staff, and customers to ensure project success
  • Optimizing designs for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and structural integrity
  • Generating placement diagrams, cut sheets, and production documentation
  • Communicating directly with builders, contractors, and field personnel regarding design revisions or installation questions
  • Managing multiple projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy
  • Assisting with troubleshooting field issues and providing technical support when needed
  • Maintaining organized project files and documentation

Qualifications include:

  • 2+ years of truss design experience preferred
  • Proficiency in MiTek, Alpine, or other truss design software preferred
  • Strong understanding of residential and commercial construction practices
  • Knowledge of building codes, engineering principles, and structural components
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and structural plans
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred skills include:

  • Experience designing both roof and floor trusses
  • Knowledge of EWP (Engineered Wood Products) layouts and applications
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes within the building materials industry
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
