Personal Lines Product Analyst Team Lead (Hybrid)

Summary: This role is responsible for serving as team leader for departmental responsibilities including coaching and onboarding product analyst and interns. Responsibilities include maintaining, coordinating, updating and upholding best practices and procedures for product analytics. Providing recommendations and supports product to enable Personal Lines to effectively achieve profit and growth goals.

What You'll Be Doing:

  1. Work with personal lines business partners, Business Intelligence, and other areas within Grange to track, monitor, measure (through metrics), analyze, provide insights, and make recommendations to support the effectiveness and success of business initiatives, programs, projects, and business operations.
  2. Participate in and lead corporate and personal lines business initiatives. Identify, evaluate, recommend, and communicate business insights and analysis necessary to achieve objectives that will ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  3. Support and lead product management with competitive insights, analysis, and recommendations:
  4. Demonstrate a superior level of knowledge and understanding of our products and their relationship to those of our competitors. Determine our competitive position relative to other insurance carriers by market segment and recommend changes to our product based on competitive analysis and insights.
  5. Conduct and recommend actions to support product initiatives by synthesizing competitor rating plans, our product and rating plans, and trends within the market.
  6. Work with PL Management on various business areas to address data and analytical needs:
  7. Identify and recommend improvements and efficiencies within our data and analysis.
  8. Be a subject matter expert and investigate current and new data sources, applications, tools, and technologies.
  9. Work with business partners (Emerging Tech, Data Science, Research and Development, Operational Excellence) to implement improvements and/or tools & technologies.
  10. Offer insights to improve the accuracy, stability, and timeliness of core product processes. Establish and document best practices. Implements and upholds changes as needed.
  11. Formally help onboard, coach, and train product analysts and interns on core product practices, analysis, and competencies.
  12. Direct and monitor the work of product analysts on assigned tasks.
  13. Right sizes requests based on analytical need, capacity, and other factors to determine proper intake and assignment of tasks.
  14. Checks quality of work assignments as needed.
  15. Maintain, coordinate, and update rate revision schedules as needed to support Personal Lines Product Management.
  16. Coordinate and partner with respective business units to create and sign off on rate, rule, and compliance deliverables.
  17. Record, maintain, and revise Personal lines rate, rule, and compliance deliverables as needed.
  18. Facilitate and communicate changes with respective business partners including, but not limited to, product management, product analytics, Personal Lines Pricing, Grange Technology Services, and sales.
  19. Lead, coordinate, implement, and communicate all product/pricing changes for a line of business with impacted departments, groups, associates, and agents. Includes internal and external communication and training.
  20. Monitor dates and deliverables and follow through with business partners for completion of deliverables.
  21. Provide additional processes to more efficiently run and track our product changes and filings as needed.

What You'll Bring To The Company:

Bachelor's degree preferred; a concentration in Risk Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or Economics is preferred. Five years of experience in a highly analytical role preferred. Outstanding problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills and ability to work well and communicate with others are a necessity. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) including advanced proficiency with MS Excel required. Familiarity and exposure with statistical, programming, and database management systems and applications, such as SAS, Python, R, and SQL-based tools preferred. Experience analyzing the profitability, loss, and growth of product lines and the insurance industry required. Demonstrated managerial and interpersonal skills preferred.
