Your Role – What You’ll Be Doing:

As a mold designer, you’ll take product concepts from initial design to production-ready molds. Your work ensures product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and on-time delivery.

  • Create detailed 2D and 3D mold designs using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
  • Interpret product drawings and technical requirements to develop tooling that meets performance and cost targets.
  • Design mold components including cores, cavities, runners, cooling systems, and ejector systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, tooling, and production teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
  • Provide design input during product development and assist in design reviews.
  • Make revisions and optimizations to existing tooling based on feedback, testing, or production data.
  • Prepare complete technical documentation including part drawings, assembly drawings, and BOMs.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Experience: 3+ years of mold design experience, ideally in rubber, plastic, or polymer-based molding.
  • CAD Proficiency: Skilled in 3D modeling and drafting using design software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  • Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of mold construction, tolerancing, parting lines, gates, venting, and cooling systems.
  • Blueprint Reading: Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot design challenges and propose practical solutions.
  • Teamwork & Communication: Effective collaboration skills and clear communication across departments.
