The Procurement Specialist performs and coordinates administrative, technical, and professional work related to ensuring compliance with the appropriate guidelines, policies, and approved internal controls. Work involves detailed duties in the requisitioning and purchasing of materials, supplies and equipment. Work is performed under the general supervision of Materials Manager and requires the use of independent judgment and initiative in the preparation and review of specifications, requirements, analysis, the receipt of bids for quotations and inventory management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews files to determine unused items and recommends disposal or excess stock.
- Compares costs and evaluates the quality and suitability of supplies and materials.
- Compiles reports for buyers to execute their E&O commodity Orders.
- Maintain weekly records of excess & obsolete sales.
- Corresponds with vendors; keeps informed of new products and market conditions and trends.
- Generate programs to help the material's team work more efficiently.
- Confers with and assists officials of all departments to determine purchasing needs and specifications.
- Assists in the supervision and training of less experienced buying personnel and generally is responsible for the supervision of one procurement assistant.
- Corresponds with Supervisor entities to ensure department needs are handled expeditiously.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to operate a personal computer including using a Windows based operating system and related software.
- Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil's software packages.
- Ability to write simple correspondence. Read and understand visual aid.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
