The Design Director is an essential member of the Jacobs Senior Leadership team within the Water and Environment business and plays a vital role in the overall success of the project. As the Design Director, you are fundamentally accountable for the success of the design team's delivery on projects and in supporting others to meet the project's objectives.
Investment in the UK & Ireland Water sector is at unprecedented levels. These large portfolios of work require experienced leaders. Within our Water and Environment Operating Unit, we have an opportunity for a highly experienced Design Director, to lead the design on large strategic portfolios of work. This immediate opportunity is focused on the delivery of design outputs at Salford Waste Water Treatment Works.
You will be expected to take overall responsibility for engineering solutions which match project outcomes and quality of delivery through the life cycle of projects, during design, construction and commissioning. And take overall responsibility for technical standards, specifications, innovation and technology. Provide a physical engineering and technical presence and act as the backstop for engineering and technical escalations and decisions.
You will be expected to be visible (both virtually and in person), approachable, collaborative and lead on the integration of your team with the wider project. The successful candidate's base office for this role will be the Jacobs Manchester office.
This role will require a continued presence based on site at Salford Waste Water Treatment Works, working collaboratively with the Construction team. Our clients' offices are in Warrington and Jacobs have design offices supporting the Salford project in Scotland (Glasgow), Ireland (Belfast) and Poland (Krakow), whereby travel to these offices is likely to be required.
