Equipment Design Technical Advisor

The Equipment Design Technical Advisor based out of Los Angeles, CA, will provide technical support in the specification, procurement, inspection, installation, deployment and commissioning of specialized large-diameter valves and equipment installed in conveyance systems and hydraulic facilities as part of scope to support design and construction engineering efforts in Southern California. Assist in the design, specification and procurement of specialized equipment, as well as the development and execution of factory and site acceptance testing for deployed field assets and systems. Serve as a technical expert and provide engineering guidance for design and field support of hydraulic facilities and conveyance projects.

Technical Advisor duties:

  1. Reviews and provides technical support for the design and construction of hydraulic facilities and conveyance systems.
  2. Provides technical advisory for large diameter equipment, including design, specification, procurement, inspection, installation, deployment and commissioning review.
  3. Provides specialized expertise in large hydraulic facilities.
  4. Provides technical assistance to clients through the support of programs, technology and strategic applications.
  5. Applies technical principles to analyze and resolve problems.
  6. Tests and evaluates new technologies, tools, materials and equipment as appropriate.
  7. Serves as a consultant and strategic advisor on special teams, utilizing individual skills and teamwork to resolve issues.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
  9. Travel throughout Southern California with overnight stays as needed.
  10. Work will be remote but will have occasional office days as needed.

This position is part-time, non-exempt and paid hourly.

Here's what you'll need:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Conveyance, Distribution, and/or Water System Operations and related technologies and processes.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • General computer skills and use of basic Microsoft applications such as Word, and Excel.
  • Must be able to determine project requirements, assess the abilities within the work group, and appropriately delegate to team members.
  • Must possess the ability to review complex problems and propose innovative solutions, which involve technical and operational issues, and may link new concepts and technologies.
  • Ability to effectively interact with various departments to maintain open lines of communication.
  • Must clearly and concisely communicate technical and economic concepts with all levels of management in both formal and informal settings.
  • Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation.

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, engineering discipline is preferred.
  • 15 years or more of relevant experience

The base salary range for this position is $226,600.00 to $342,760.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
