Operations Management (O&M) Growth & Sales Leader

Jacobs' OMFS business serves public agencies and private entities, delivering water and wastewater utility operations & maintenance, facilities management, public works, and municipal services. We've delivered O&M services for clients in government and industry for over 40 years and are responsible for operations at more than 300 water and wastewater treatment facilities. The O&M business is an important element of Jacobs' plan for growth.

Jacobs is seeking an Operations Management (O&M) Growth & Sales Leader who will ensure client satisfaction and help support growth in our Operations Management Facilities Services (OMFS) practice in the United States and Canada. This is an exciting opportunity to develop a thorough understanding of our business development and sales priorities, and work to ensure that Jacobs is the provider-of-choice for our clients. You'll be a self-motivated professional capable of working independently and have approximately 10 years of Operations and Maintenance (OM) sales experience. The location for this position will preferably be in a Central/Midwest location. Candidate must live near a major airport. Position will require up to 50% travel.

As a Growth & Sales Leader, specific responsibilities include:

  • Support business development activities leading to the award of O&M contracts. This typically includes pipeline and client relationship development, project-specific positioning activities, teaming arrangements, proposal preparation, oral presentations, and contract negotiations consistent with established business development processes.
  • Demonstrate the ability to build, manage, positively motivate, and work within high-performing technical and sales teams.
  • Support our delivery teams during the initiation phase of new O&M projects and in some instances, continue to serve as a client service manager following award.
  • Participate in conference activities such as trade show booths, client hospitality events, and technical presentations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to build trust and relationships with internal client portfolio managers and external clients and educate both on O&M delivery options and approaches.
  • Lead and manage teams through all phases of a pursuit to accomplish established objectives consistent with our business development process and within set budgets and schedules.
  • Be accountable for generating statement-of-qualification packages, proposals, and/or presentations, in partnership with the procurement team, that are client-focused, meet proposal requirements, and are consistent with the sales strategy while simultaneously ensuring that Jacobs business and policy expectations are meet in the areas of: health and safety, quality, financial, project delivery, and risk management.
  • Demonstrate effective listening and strong team and consensus building skills.

Business Development is an exciting, fast-paced, and dynamic team sport. The position is full-time, and work hours will vary depending on market activity. This is a hybrid position working from home and traveling to client meetings and project sites. You must reside near a major airport.

Here's what you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Ten (10) plus years of relevant proposal and/or sales experience in an Engineering & Construction organization or closely related professional services firm
  • 2 years of experience in leading or managing a high-performance sales and marketing team
  • Ability to demonstrate thorough understanding of industry contracting mechanisms and support contract negotiation activities
  • Possess and apply knowledge of clients, competitor, and industry trends within assigned division
  • Ability to develop and administer ongoing processes, procedures, and associated budgets/timelines
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time throughout the US and Canada
  • Must have a valid driver's license with no major infractions
  • Ideally, you'll also have:
    • Strong understanding of both project delivery and business development tools and metrics, and a proven history leading project and sales teams to successfully meet client expectations
    • Excellent oral and written communications, self-motivation and ability to work independently, team-oriented work practices, strong data analysis and technical problem solving, and strong organizational approach
    • Adept at interpersonal relationship building, conflict resolution, and leading diverse teams

The base salary range for this position is $160,000.00 to $220,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
