Your impact

At Jacobs, we do not settle – always looking beyond to raise the bar and deliver with excellence. We apply our expertise and knowledge as we look into the future with great optimism and focus. We don't settle until we give our best and know that we're making a difference.

Become part of our team as a Project Design Lead who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our clients' business. Join us and you'll have the chance to work on projects including semiconductor manufacturing and other state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. Ideal candidate will be located around or open to relocating to Hillsboro, OR.

The Design Lead is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of complex tool installation design packages, overseeing projects that can range from 15 to over 200 pages in scope. This role serves as the central point of coordination across multidisciplinary teams, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural stakeholders, while also acting as the primary interface with clients through frequent, often daily, communication. In addition to managing scope, schedule, and budget to ensure timely and cost-effective execution, the Design Lead proactively removes roadblocks and enables design teams to work efficiently. The role requires the ability to independently oversee a high volume of work—typically 10–15 concurrent tool packages—while maintaining quality and momentum with minimal oversight. Responsibilities also include conducting field verifications, to confirm design accuracy and constructability, and driving progress by identifying solutions and advancing workstreams even when dependencies fall outside of direct control.

Bring your curiosity, talent for multi-tasking and collaboration, and extreme organizational skills and we'll help you grow, pursue and fulfill what drives you – so we can make big impacts on the world, together.

Here's what you'll need

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or 5+ years equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of semiconductor tool install design experience
  • Experience leading design coordination and construction drawing development
  • Strong client interaction and relationship track record
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and scope
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, etc.)

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Experience in semiconductor, cleanroom, or industrial projects
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Quickbase
  • Experience working in fast-paced, matrixed teams
  • Innovative mindset that brings new ways of working
  • Team lead experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base
  • Passionate about buildings and construction
