Senior Designer – Denim

The Senior Designer – Denim is responsible for leading the creative direction and execution of the seasonal denim collection for Lucky Brand women's. This role owns the design vision from initial concept through final production, ensuring product reflects elevated aesthetics, refined washes, exceptional fit, and superior craftsmanship. The Senior Designer partners closely with Merchandising, Production, Technical Design, and Sourcing to deliver high-quality, brand-right denim that meets business objectives while maintaining a strong point of view and elevated lifestyle sensibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design concept, seasonal storytelling, maintaining fabric platform and execution for assigned denim categories, ensuring alignment with brand identity and premium positioning.
  • Research and interpret global fashion trends, denim innovations, vintage references, fabrications, and wash techniques relevant to a premium lifestyle consumer.
  • Translate inspiration into refined sketches, wash callouts, fabric selections, and design details that elevate the assortment.
  • Own wash standards and approve all wash development, strike-offs, and bulk approvals with a focus on authenticity, hand-feel, and finish quality.
  • Develop and maintain detailed, consistent tech packs that clearly communicate design intent, construction, trims, and finishes to cross-functional partners and vendors.
  • Collaborate closely with Merchandising to curate balanced, commercial assortments that support line plans, margin targets, and premium price points.
  • Partner with Production, Sourcing, and Technical Design to ensure product integrity, fit excellence, and manufacturability without compromising design vision.
  • Lead fit sessions for assigned styles; provide clear direction on fit, proportion, and construction details, ensuring a refined end product.
  • Review and approve all samples through the development lifecycle, ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment with brand standards.
  • Manage seasonal design calendars and ensure all deliverables meet milestone deadlines.
  • Analyze sales performance, customer feedback, and market data to inform future design decisions and identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Prepare and present design concepts and collections at seasonal milestones and leadership reviews.
  • Mentor and guide Designer, Associate Designer, and Assistant Designers, fostering growth, elevating design standards, and strengthening team capabilities.
  • Maintain organized design archives and seasonal materials, including line sheets, inspiration boards, and references.
  • Conduct constant competitive research in store, online and monitor social platforms (e.g., TikTok, Instagram) to identify trends aligned with the brand and customer.

Position Requirements:

  • 6+ years of denim design experience, preferably within a premium or contemporary lifestyle brand.
  • Deep expertise in denim construction, fabrications, washes, fits, and finishing techniques with a strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Strong creative point of view with the ability to translate trends into timeless, elevated product for a discerning customer.
  • Advanced sketching skills with the ability to produce clean, detailed Illustrator flats efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft Excel, and PLM systems.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills with experience leading collaboration across Merchandising, Production, and Technical Design.
  • Highly organized, self-driven, and comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring junior designers.
  • Strong understanding of the denim market and the Lucky Brand customer.
