Electrical Designer

Our Eden Prairie, Minnesota (MN) office is looking for an Electrical Designer with 10+ years of experience to join our Electrical/Renewable Energy team!

Responsibilities

  1. Designing and producing sets of plans for electrical systems including solar, battery storage, electric vehicle charging, and building electrical
  2. Developing reports and design documents, including solar photovoltaic electrical site plans, equipment selection, photovoltaic module string sizing calculations, ampacity calculations, and wire sizing
  3. Participating on project teams in an active production role
  4. Participating in project meetings internally and externally with clients
  5. Preparing project specifications
  6. Preparing electrical construction cost estimates
  7. Daily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines
  8. Coordination and verification of as-built drawings
  9. Performing quality work that promotes client retention

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associates degree preferred)
  • 10+ years of design experience in electrical engineering specifically in any of the following: solar PV design, battery energy storage, or energy modeling
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Advanced understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards, energy codes
  • Previous experience with solar production modeling is a plus
  • Previous experience with electrical solar photovoltaic design or battery storage is a plus
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM – Autodesk Revit) experience is a plus
  • Electrical power, lighting, and fire alarm design experience
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
  • Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn
  • Ability to work independently and with a team

Salary Range: $90,000 - $125,000
