The work:

  • Lead end-to-end UX design – Own the UX process from discovery through delivery, translating product vision and business requirements into intuitive experiences. Create user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes; ensure design consistency across platforms.
  • Conduct and synthesize user research – Plan and execute user interviews, contextual inquiries, usability testing, and stakeholder workshops. Identify pain points and workflow challenges, turn findings into actionable design recommendations, and validate solutions through iterative testing.
  • Design for complex, data-driven applications – Build intuitive interfaces for data-rich, multi-view applications; simplify complex journeys; design scalable interaction patterns and reusable components while balancing usability, performance, and visual clarity.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally – Partner with product managers to define user needs and success metrics; work with engineering teams to ensure feasible, scalable implementation; present design rationale to stakeholders and leadership; contribute to design critiques and foster a strong UX culture.
  • Drive UX excellence – Champion user-centered design best practices; evolve design systems and pattern libraries; mentor junior designers; continuously improve design processes and workflows.

Who you are:

  • Experienced UI/UX designer skilled in user-centered design, including user research, persona creation, wireframing, mockup design, and user testing.
  • Proficient with industry-standard tools such as Figma and Adobe XD.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to customer sites (typically < 10% travel).
  • Passionate about solving complex, data-driven design challenges and mentoring others.

Desired skills:

  • Significant experience using interactive prototyping tools (e.g. Figma, Adobe XD)
  • Experience performing Cognitive Task Analysis (CTA)
  • Experience designing user interfaces that include an artificial intelligence (AI) backend
  • Hands-on experience performing knowledge elicitation with end users.
  • A self-starter who is not afraid to engage stakeholders and other engineers in a collaborative, ethical, and respectful way.
  • Motivated to both give and receive constructive criticism on UX designs

Pay rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $89,300 - $157,550. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
