Director, Product Management – Data Exchange & Interoperability

Do you have a passion for building great products that deliver measurable value? Do you get excited to drive down the cost of care by building the future of healthcare data exchange? Are you energized by the challenge of translating complex interoperability standards into elegant, market-ready products? Do you thrive at the intersection of technology strategy, regulatory compliance, and customer value? If the answer to all of the above is YES, we may have the perfect role for you.

Position Summary:

The Director, Product Management – Data Exchange & Interoperability is responsible for the strategy, design, and execution of MacroHealth's data exchange solutions, known as Connect.

This leader will own the vision and roadmap for Connect – MacroHealth's suite of interoperability and data exchange capabilities that enable seamless, standards-based connectivity between health plans, health market partners (HMPs), providers, and other ecosystem participants.

The Director will define and drive the product strategy for Connect, ensuring it aligns with MacroHealth's broader platform direction while meeting the evolving interoperability mandates, data exchange standards, and market expectations that define the modern healthcare data landscape. This includes leading the design of an industry leading marketplace including APIs, EDI and claims data exchange pipelines, partner connectivity frameworks, and data governance capabilities that support MacroHealth's customers and HMP network.

This role requires a highly hands-on product leader who brings deep knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, X12/EDI, USCDI), a sharp understanding of the regulatory environment (CMS Interoperability Rules, ONC HTI-1, HIPAA), and the commercial instincts to translate technical capability into differentiated market value. The Director will actively leverage modern AI-powered tools to accelerate discovery, decision-making, and delivery across the product lifecycle.

This role will collaborate closely with Executive Leadership, Engineering, Market Development, Platform Product Management, Marketing, and Sales – and will serve as MacroHealth's internal and external thought leader on healthcare data exchange and connectivity strategy. The Director will report directly to the Vice President, Product Management.

Key Accountabilities:

Product Strategy & Vision

  • We are looking for an Innovative Product Management leader to drive the MacroHeath the strategy into the future, not just maintaining the status quo. The Director will own this multi-year product vision, strategy, and roadmap for MacroHealth Connect, MacroHealth's data exchange and interoperability capabilities.
  • Define the key value proposition and positioning for Connect within the MacroHealth product portfolio, aligned with customer value realization and commercial growth targets.
  • Lead build vs. buy vs. partner analyses for new data exchange capabilities, connectivity standards, and interoperability infrastructure investments.
  • Continuously monitor the regulatory, standards, and competitive landscape – including CMS Interoperability and Prior Authorization Rules, ONC HTI-1, and TEFCA, etc – to ensure MacroHealth's Connect strategy remains ahead of the market.

Product Execution & Delivery

  • Drive the end-to-end product lifecycle for Connect – from discovery and requirements definition through delivery, launch, and post-launch optimization.
  • Define detailed product requirements where applicable.
  • Partner with Engineering and Architecture to ensure scalable, secure, and compliant data exchange patterns are embedded in product design.
  • Champion best practices for data quality, API versioning, backward compatibility, and extensibility within the Connect platform.
  • Coordinate complex, cross-functional delivery across inter-team dependencies in a fast-paced environment.

Regulatory & Compliance Alignment

  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Policy teams to interpret interoperability regulations and translate them into executable product requirements and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure Connect products meet applicable compliance, audit readiness, and documentation expectations related to CMS and ONC mandates.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving information-blocking regulations and related enforcement trends, ensuring product strategy appropriately addresses risk and opportunity.

Customer & Market Engagement

  • Actively engage with customers, prospects, health market partners (HMPs), and ecosystem participants to deeply understand data exchange needs, pain points, and opportunities.
  • Serve as MacroHealth's thought leader on healthcare data exchange – representing the company externally with customers, prospects, and industry forums.
  • Translate customer and market insights into prioritized product investments with clear business cases and value metrics.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Work closely with Market Development, Sales, and Marketing to define go-to-market strategy for Connect offerings, including positioning, messaging, and pricing.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to create customer-facing materials and ensure sales teams have the tools and support to compete effectively in data exchange and interoperability discussions.
  • Partner with Platform Product Management to ensure Connect is well-integrated within the MacroHealth platform architecture and roadmap.
  • Work with the VP of Product Management and Chief Product Officer to help scale and evolve the Product Management function across MacroHealth.

AI-Powered Product Development

  • Actively leverage AI-powered tools (e.g., LLM-based workflows, analytics copilots, prototyping tools) to accelerate product discovery, requirements definition, experimentation, and delivery.
  • Apply AI-driven insights to data exchange patterns, partner connectivity behavior, and market dynamics to inform product strategy and prioritization.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Software Product Management experience, with a meaningful portion focused on healthcare data exchange, interoperability, or health IT integration.
  • Hands-on working knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards including HL7 v2/v3, FHIR (R4/R4B), X12/EDI transaction sets (837, 835, 270/271), and USCDI.
  • Working knowledge of the healthcare regulatory environment governing data exchange: CMS Interoperability and Prior Authorization Final Rule, ONC HTI-1 / 21st Century Cures, HIPAA, and information-blocking provisions.
  • Demonstrated experience translating complex regulatory and technical requirements into prioritized, commercially viable product roadmaps.
  • Strong experience working with payers, health plans, provider organizations, or network/connectivity platforms – MacroHealth's primary customer and partner segments.
  • Proven track record of managing enterprise software products through the full lifecycle – from discovery and requirements through release, launch, and iteration.
  • Experience working closely with Engineering and Architecture using Agile/Scrum delivery models in a SaaS or cloud-native environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Health Informatics, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Comes to work every day with a passion for our customers and industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with API management platforms, integration engines (e.g., MuleSoft, Rhapsody, Mirth Connect), or event-driven architecture patterns in healthcare settings.
  • Familiarity with SMART on FHIR, Da Vinci implementation guides, or TEFCA/QHINs.
  • Experience in a scaling B2B SaaS healthcare company (Series A–C or comparable growth-stage environment).
  • Experience managing or mentoring a product team of Product Managers, Business Analysts, or Technical Specialists.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – with the credibility to engage executive stakeholders as well as deeply technical engineering teams.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities in complex, multi-dependency environments.
  • Problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail and ability to manage ambiguity.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, remote-first environment.
  • Experience facilitating cross-functional collaboration across product, engineering, sales, and operations teams.

Compensation:

  • $190,000 - $215,000 annual base salary plus bonus, equity, 401k match, flexible PTO and medical/dental/vision insurance.

Why You Will Love Working Here:

  • A people-first culture where your work directly shapes how employees experience the company.
  • The opportunity to blend technology
