Senior Mechanical/CATIA Designer / Checker – BIW Tooling

Our client, a leader in the automotive industry, is seeking a Senior Mechanical/CATIA Designer / Checker to join their team. As a Senior Mechanical/CATIA Designer / Checker, you will be part of the engineering department supporting innovative tooling solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset which will align successfully in the organization.

Location: Southfield, MI

Pay Range: Competitive based on experience.

What's the Job?

• Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, fixtures, tools, and controls using CAD software.
• Modify existing 3D and 2D models for tooling fixtures and create new designs for complex systems.
• Review and analyze specifications, sketches, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs.
• Coordinate with Technical Leaders and Project Engineers to maintain consistency and resolve design issues.
• Ensure compliance with North American Auto Manufacturer standards and specifications for Body in White Tooling Fixtures.

What's Needed?

• Approximately 4 years of experience in mechanical design, specifically for Body Shop Tooling.
• Proficiency in NX CAD and a strong understanding of auto assembly strategies.
• Knowledge of mechanical design sequences and controls documents.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical errors and provide effective solutions.
• Familiarity with NAAMS Standards and customer specifications.
