System Layout Designer – Automotive Body Shop

Our client, a leader in the automotive industry, is seeking a System Layout Designer to join their team. As a System Layout Designer, you will be part of the engineering department supporting innovative projects in the automotive body shop sector. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset which will align successfully in the organization.

Location: Southfield, MI

Pay Range: Competitive, based on experience

What's the Job?

• Design and layout mechanical systems for automotive body assembly using AutoCAD and FactoryCAD.
• Collaborate with technical leaders and project engineers to resolve design challenges and enhance system performance.
• Modify existing 3D and 2D models and create new designs for complex systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and customer specifications throughout the design process.
• Participate in team meetings and provide technical support for installation and project issue resolution.

What's Needed?

• 5+ years of mechanical design and engineering experience in the automotive industry.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and FactoryCAD; knowledge of Siemens NX and CATIA is a plus.
• Strong understanding of body assembly processes and auto assembly strategies.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed for project support.
