So, what does a member of our Shift Management Team get to do?

Job Purpose:

McDonald's Shift Managers play a crucial role in the restaurant to engage and coordinate the areas leaders to deliver outstanding levels of QS&C, deliver an exceptional customer experience every time, while upholding McDonald's beliefs of quality, service, cleanliness, and hospitality. The Shift Manager has a "big picture" view of the shift; observes what is happening in each area and between areas so they can make decisions, act and solve problems.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities The Shift Leader:

  • Must work with area leaders to identify danger zones, prioritize & reduce operational barriers to deliver gold standard products and support a great customer experience across all service channels.
  • Runs areas (service, production, drive thru, etc.) that directly impact the crew and customer experience. Skills and behaviors are needed to lead engaged, empowered employees delivering outstanding customer experience, exceeding customer expectations, and delivering outstanding quality products and service by operating as designed.
  • Keeps principles and restaurant conditions top of mind to be successful leading production and service. An area will not operate efficiently if these are not considered when making shift decisions. Understanding area principles and restaurant conditions (data based) is important for the shift leader because they drive effective decision making.

The Area Leader:

  • Maintains food safety in their area.
  • Works with the shift leader to coordinate the efforts of everyone in the restaurant to deliver outstanding levels of QS&C.
  • Maintains a safe and secure restaurant.
  • Motivates and supports the crew in their area to deliver a great customer experience, operating as designed.
  • Ensures that the targets of their area are met.
  • Creates feel good moments for everyone!

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to the Department Manager.

Health, Safety And Food Safety:

  • Responsible to follow all safety rules and work safely.
  • Use of non-slip or slip resistant shoes required.
  • Responsible for reporting unsafe practices or concerns to the Store Manager.
  • Must adhere to all company policy and practices.
  • Must adhere to appearance policy- Facial jewelry, acrylic/false nails, visible tattoos (face/hands/neck) and beards are prohibited while working.
  • No use of bracelet or wrist watches.
  • No use of cell phone while working.
  • No use of air pods while working.

Working Conditions:

  • Restaurant environment with regulated temperature.
  • Personal Protective Equipment usage where required.
  • Physical abilities:
    • Position will require an ability to talk or hear for frequently long periods of time.
    • Required ability to stand for long periods of time.
    • Required bend/bend from the waist and reach with hands and arms.
    • Daily lifting and/or ability to move/push/pull up to 35 pounds.
    • Required ability to kneel, crawl and squat.
    • Manual dexterity and coordination are required to perform the work various restaurant related tools and equipment.
