MBP is looking for a Project Planner to provide technical guidance in a higher education medical school environment to assist with the planning and design review for a mix of academic, medical, laboratory, research, and campus infrastructure projects. Individuals at this level demonstrate a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering complexities, determining program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guidelines for diverse engineering activities. Evidence of progressive career development within the design and construction industry.
Managing a project's or program's long range planning models based on the needs of department and institutional priorities.
Provide information and recommendations on physical and comprehensive planning and design issues, large scale planning studies, and special facilities planning topics with a focus on medical, laboratory, and research facilities.
Verify that institutional planning objectives and strategies are incorporated into departmental plans and projects.
Verify projects in the planning phase are completed within the approved budget and schedule, and conform to applicable codes and zoning ordinances.
Recognized as key client contact point and decision-maker.
Attend client meetings as an Owner's Representative.
Participates in the resolution of planning and technical conflicts by recommending cost effective options and alternative approaches.
S. in industry-related field, Architecture, Engineering, or Planning preferred.
Experience with clinical medical environments, laboratory and research space planning, and knowledge of supporting mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and medical processes systems required.
Professional registration, other job relevant certification such as CCM, CCE, or advanced specialized technical knowledge.
Detailed knowledge of planning, design, construction, principles of construction management and project controls, with specialized knowledge in several areas including building codes, design standards, documentation, contract administration, and the ability to interpret design and engineering standards.
Knowledge of personnel and project management techniques including budgeting, leadership, training, and business.
Capable of managing multiple assignments simultaneously.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to analyze and optimize internal and external processes.
Able to stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions.
Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain.
Generally able to work independently and within project teams to complete assigned tasks for project execution. Receives overall guidance on emphasis and approach from Client Project Manager with additional support from the on-site MBP Project Team.
Generally performs in a managerial role, coordinating and monitoring the efforts of the project design team and client stakeholders. Performs analytical tasks as well.
