User Experience Researcher

User Experience Researcher Responsibilities:
- Leveraging knowledge of Human Computer Interaction (HCI), anthropology, design thinking and/or user experience research to help inform the development of complex interfaces and AI-enabled ad products on WhatsApp.
- Draw upon specialty knowledge of businesses and/or advertisers in emerging markets combined with product strategy experience to direct our WA business platform for a global user base.
- Partnering with design, engineering and product owners to support advertisers' needs by focusing on technical research areas such as ad creation, signals tracking, ROI improvement and AI enabled personalization campaigns for WA SMB app and ads manager.
- Conduct research at all product stages from discovery to execution to understand customer needs using a variety of methods such as in-depth/empathy interviews, ethnographic studies, prototype testing & usability benchmarking, contextual inquiry, card sorts, heuristic and literature reviews.
- Research macro and micro trends within the competitive product landscape to identify strengths and weaknesses amongst other product players and highlight new market opportunities.
- Set up wide range of advanced mix-method research studies through vendor-led programs or using remote AI-enabled data collection platforms to support both moderated and unmoderated studies.
- Analyze large volume of raw user data by applying coding and/or theme clustering techniques to draw out patterns for user insights.
- Present insights effectively and creatively, especially drawing on knowledge from data visualization, information graphics and/or video editing to build immersive user testimonials and stories.
- Facilitate ideation/prioritization workshops through participatory design with product teams using co-creation exercises such as Affinity Mapping and Kano modeling on tools like Figma, Canva and Miro.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Psychology, Sociology, Communication, Information Science, Media Studies, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field, and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in the job offered or related occupation.
- Experience must include 5 years in the following:
- Informing long-term product vision through foundational research methods such as in-depth interviews, diary studies, ethnography, contextual inquiry and focus groups and interpreting analysis through the lens of UX research, HCI and/or social science.
- Working in a fast-paced work environment to provide product teams with directional research insights using rapid evaluative methods such as RITE, usability benchmarking, concept testing, heuristic reviews, or card sorting.
- Conducting secondary research using published white papers, trend reports, online articles, industry publications or statistics data to sharpen perspectives on a variety of research topics.
- Partnering with design, product management and engineering to inform the strategy of digital products, support product experimentation and interface improvements.
- Remote research platforms such as D-scout, Delve and User testing for data collection, transcription and recruitment.
- Synthesizing large datasets by cleaning, prioritizing and clustering data points through affinity diagramming.
- Presenting and conveying research effectively to influence stakeholders' decisions using visual data modeling or data visualization strategies.
- Publishing research data across a variety of medium including online articles, notes or using multimedia content while flexibly adapting storytelling style based on format.
- Drafting, reviewing and editing research instruments like survey or interview questions, and translating complex information into accessible concepts across a variety of research outputs and presentations.
- Working with SMBs and enterprise customers across both local and global markets understanding their experience gaps in growing their business, and trends in business development.
- Applying user-centered innovation frameworks to drive product solutions and/or business opportunities in workshop settings.
- Connecting business goals, end-user needs and user experience heuristics to support product development across both web and mobile interfaces.

$208,414/year to $221,540/year + bonus + equity + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
