Power Delivery Designer

We are a leading engineering and consulting firm delivering innovative solutions across the power delivery industry. Our team supports utilities, cooperatives, municipalities, and renewable energy developers on critical transmission and substation infrastructure projects throughout North America. We specialize in EPC and consulting services for projects ranging from 12kV distribution systems to 500kV transmission infrastructure.

Job Description

  • Develop detailed design drawings and construction packages for transmission and substation projects ranging from 12kV to 500kV
  • Prepare substation physical layouts including transformers, breakers, disconnect switches, bus arrangements, grounding systems, and control buildings
  • Support transmission line design projects including routing, structure layouts, plan & profile drawings, and construction packages
  • Create and revise drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, or similar design software
  • Coordinate with engineering, protection & control, civil, and construction teams throughout project execution
  • Interpret engineering calculations, specifications, utility standards, and client requirements
  • Assist with projects involving voltages including 12kV, 34.5kV, 69kV, 115kV, 138kV, 230kV, 345kV, and 500kV systems
  • Support permitting, material takeoffs, and construction documentation efforts
  • Participate in site visits and field verification activities as needed
  • Ensure all designs comply with NEC, NESC, utility standards, and applicable industry codes

The Successful Applicant

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting & Design, or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in power delivery, substation, or transmission design
  • Experience supporting utility, EPC, or consulting environments
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar drafting software
  • Knowledge of transmission line and substation design principles
  • Understanding of utility construction practices and electrical layouts
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
