Develop detailed physical substation design packages for utility projects. Support greenfield and brownfield substation projects ranging from 12kV to 500kV+. Prepare general arrangement drawings, electrical equipment layouts, elevations and section views, grounding layouts, conduit and cable trench plans, control building layouts, bus and rigid bus drawings. Coordinate with engineers, relay/P&C teams, civil teams, and project managers. Utilize AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bentley Substation, or similar design platforms. Ensure designs comply with utility standards, NESC, IEEE standards, and client specifications. Support site visits, field verification, and constructability reviews as needed. Assist with design revisions and project documentation throughout project lifecycle.

A successful Substation Physical Designer (Contract-to-Hire) should have: Associate's degree or technical certification in drafting, design technology, or engineering technology preferred. 2+ years of substation physical design experience. Experience supporting utility, consulting, or EPC substation projects. Proficiency with AutoCAD and MicroStation. Understanding of substation equipment and layouts including breakers, disconnect switches, CTs/PTs, transformers, bus configurations. Strong communication and coordination skills.
