We are seeking a skilled Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Designer to join our engineering team in Charlotte, NC. This long-term contract role involves designing, drafting, and supporting high-voltage transmission and distribution projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical utility design, experience with civil and electrical drafting tools, and a commitment to accuracy and safety.
Prepare detailed designs, drawings, and schematics for transmission lines, substations, and distribution systems.
Design and develop transmission and distribution (T&D) systems across a broad range of voltage levels, including low voltage (120/240V, 480V), medium voltage (4kV-35kV), sub-transmission (69kV-138kV), and high voltage transmission systems (230kV-500kV), ensuring compliance with applicable utility and regulatory standards.
Develop and modify plan and profile drawings for overhead and underground distribution systems.
Review and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and survey data to ensure compliance with design standards and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field staff to ensure constructible and efficient designs.
Support the preparation of cost estimates, material lists, and construction documents.
Maintain and update GIS and CAD databases related to T&D projects.
Ensure adherence to safety standards, utility codes, and industry best practices.
Provide technical support and recommendations for field construction and maintenance teams.

Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Proven experience in T&D design for electric utilities, preferably including both overhead and underground systems.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar CAD software.
Familiarity with distribution modeling tools (e.g., Milsoft, CYME, PLS-CADD) is a plus.
Strong understanding of utility design standards, construction practices, and safety regulations.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
Hourly compensation ranging from $55.00 to $65.00 USD.
