Director of Marketing - Giants Ridge
Compensation Amount: 75,000.00 USD Annual
Job Summary: The Director of Marketing is responsible for leading the resort's marketing strategy, brand direction, and business development initiatives while actively supporting the execution of marketing programs. This role establishes marketing priorities, defines performance objectives, and ensures alignment between business goals, seasonal operations, and guest engagement. This is a working leadership position that combines strategic oversight with hands-on contribution. The Director of Marketing develops the marketing plan, monitors performance indicators, guides brand consistency, and collaborates closely with internal departments, the management company, and community partners. In addition to leadership responsibilities, this position may directly assist with campaign execution, communications, content initiatives, and digital updates as business needs require.
Essential Functions:
- Strategic Leadership & Marketing Direction
- Develop, implement, and continuously refine the facility's marketing strategy across all seasons.
- Establish that annual marketing plans, campaign priorities, and performance objectives align with business goals.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate marketing effectiveness and return on investment.
- Guide brand positions, messaging consistency, and overall market presence.
- Partner with the management company marketing team to align local marketing strategies with corporate brand standards, campaigns, and initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen visitation, revenue generation, and guest engagement.
- Business Development & Market Growth
- Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and promotional channels.
- Represent the organization with the local and regional community to strengthen brand visibility and relationships.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to support new initiatives, programs, and revenue opportunities.
- Evaluate market trends, guest behaviors, and competitive conditions to make informed marketing decisions.
- Budgeting & Performance Oversight
- Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring responsible allocation of resources.
- Monitor campaign performance and adjust strategies based on measurable results.
- Evaluate marketing investments, advertising channels, and promotional initiatives for effectiveness.
- Cross-Department Collaboration
- Work closely with departmental teams to align marketing efforts with operational priorities.
- Ensure accurate, timely and consistent communication of conditions, programs, pricing, and events.
- Support departments in identifying promotional opportunities and guest engagement strategies.
- Execution & Working Director Responsibilities
- Provide direct tactical support to marketing initiatives when needed, including campaign development, communications, and digital updates.
- Assist with marketing functions typically performed by other members of the marketing team during peak periods or operational demands.
- Contribute to messaging development, promotional planning, and creative direction.
- Maintain familiarity with marketing platforms, digital tools, and communication channels used by the department.
- Brand & Guest Experience Alignment
- Maintain a full working knowledge of facility operations, seasonal offerings, and guest experiences.
- Ensure marketing materials and communications accurately reflect the resort environment and brand standards.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements Include:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience in marketing strategy, campaign development, and brand management.
- Ability to balance strategic planning with practical execution.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing channels and performance measurement.
- Computer proficiency including MS Office and relevant marketing or creative software.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
- Strong interpersonal skill and professional representation abilities.
- Ability to adapt to seasonal business fluctuations and operational priorities.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in a four-season recreational environment.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to sit at a desk in front of a computer for extended amounts of time.
- Ability to travel between locations at the resort. Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to push, pull and lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
- Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
- Constantly communicates and receives verbal communication with other employees and stakeholders.
- Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers, and the ability to speak clearly in English to ensure understanding by guests and co-workers.
- Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends when required.
