Marketing Cloud Developer

The Marketing Cloud Developer is a senior individual contributor within the Marketing Technology (MarTech) team, responsible for building, optimizing, and maintaining scalable, data-driven marketing solutions in Salesforce Marketing Cloud. This role partners closely with marketing, analytics, CRM, and technology teams to enable personalized customer journeys, reliable automation, and secure system integrations.

This position requires deep hands-on technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to translate marketing requirements into robust, production-ready solutions within an enterprise MarTech ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Salesforce Marketing Cloud Development

  • Design and develop dynamic, personalized emails, landing pages, and interactive content using AMPscript, SSJS, HTML, CSS, and SQL
  • Ensure responsive design, accessibility standards, and cross-client compatibility
  • Support reusable templates, modular content, and scalable development patterns

Campaign Automation & Data Enablement

  • Build, enhance, and maintain complex automated campaigns using Journey Builder and Automation Studio
  • Create and optimize data extensions, SQL queries, and segmentation logic to support targeting and personalization
  • Partner with MarTech and data teams to support data modeling and alignment within Contact Builder / Data Designer

Platform Integration & Technical Operations

  • Implement and maintain REST and SOAP API integrations between Salesforce Marketing Cloud, CRM platforms, and third-party marketing technologies
  • Support platform hygiene, data governance standards, and technical documentation
  • Assist in evaluating and onboarding new MarTech tools and integrations as needed

Troubleshooting & Performance Optimization

  • Diagnose and resolve campaigns, automation, and data issues across Marketing Cloud
  • Optimize SQL queries, automation, and journeys for performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Proactively identify risks, gaps, or inefficiencies within the MarTech stack

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with marketing, operations, analytics, and IT teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations during campaign planning and execution
  • Contribute to best practices, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives within the MarTech team

Required Skills & Qualifications

Salesforce Marketing Cloud Expertise

  • Email Studio
  • Journey Builder
  • Automation Studio
  • Contact Builder / Data Designer

Technical Skills

  • Advanced SQL for data segmentation, transformation, and automation
  • Strong proficiency in AMPscript and SSJS for personalization and dynamic content
  • Experience with HTML and CSS for responsive email and landing page development
  • Working knowledge of API integrations (REST and SOAP)

Experience & Competencies

  • Experience supporting marketing automation and enterprise MarTech environments
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot technical issues and optimize platform performance
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable operating as a senior individual contributor with execution ownership

Preferred Certifications

One or more of the following Salesforce certifications are strongly preferred:

  • Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Engagement Developer
  • Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Engagement Consultant
  • Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Engagement Administrator
  • Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Email Specialist

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Six or more years of related experience in marketing and marketing strategy with proven ability to deliver results
