The Ascentek Product Development Technician I will support the Condition Monitoring program with the testing and analysis of routine samples. The Product Development Technician I will also support the higher-level functions of the Condition Monitoring team such as sample logging and data entry on an as-needed basis. The Product Development Technician I may also support the Product Development team with large-scale sample blends as well as other projects on an as-needed basis. They will also be responsible for managing incoming TSRs that are assigned to them on an as-needed basis. They will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment within the laboratory and engaging in periodic 5S and Continuous Improvement projects.
Function within the guidelines of the Ascentek "Team Ground Rules" and Mission Statement
Be able to function independently within the basic aspects of the Condition Monitoring program
Independently blend samples for bench and customer testing
Conduct performance and physical/chemical property testing on new and existing products
Perform routine instrument maintenance and engage in basic instrument troubleshooting
Engage in periodic 5S and Continuous Improvement projects within the laboratory
Maintain a clean and safe working environment within the laboratory
Education: College graduate with a bachelor's degree in science or engineering, chemistry preferred
Experience and/or Training: Previous experience in a laboratory environment, including an academic setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Requires an individual who engages in safe laboratory practices Requires strong oral, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office Requires the ability to effectively communicate laboratory testing and draft technical written reports. Requires the ability to organize work and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines
Experience and/or Training: Previous experience in new and in-service lubricant analysis Previous experience in lubricant research and development
Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to bend, twist, push, pull, climb stairs, reach, lift, carry and grasp objects. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
Mental Demands: The Laboratory Intern must be able to comprehend basic technical instructions and understand the basics of chemical safe handling. They must be able to work collaboratively within a group setting as well as be able to work individually.
Environmental demands: Work is performed in a laboratory, general office, and production environment. Most areas are climate controlled dry, indoor areas. The noise level of the work environment is usually moderate, but the production facility may have an increased noise level. There is exposure to solvents, acids, corrosives, and other chemicals in the laboratory and production areas. There may be additional exposure to fumes, vapors and mists.
The anticipated hiring range for the role you are applying for is between $24 and $30 hourly. This anticipated hiring range is based on several factors, and subject to increase based on the below:
