As a member of the Business Development's Pursuit team, the Pursuits & Directories Coordinator – Global has a primary responsibility for collaborating with others to create compelling deliverables that best position the firm to win work. They will support the MBD team when:

  • Developing best-in-class, client-centric, compliant, and on-time, pitch and introductory material for business development purposes
  • Developing and maintaining business development standard content
  • Maintaining, updating, and navigating a robust experience library
  • Collaborating with attorneys and colleagues on directory submissions

This position can sit in our Miami, Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York, Northern Virginia, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Raleigh, San Diego, Seattle, Short Hills, Washington DC, or Wilmington office and offers a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting team throughout the pitch and proposal response lifecycle including but not limited to tracking opportunities; developing project plans; scheduling kick-off calls with lawyers and colleagues; gathering and drafting relevant content; and ensuring high quality/error free proposals are submitted.
  • Creating initial pitch and proposal drafts, and updating drafts based on attorney & colleague input in alignment with best practices.
  • Participating in conversations with attorney teams and MBD colleagues to identify win themes and leverages client research to tailor pitches, proposals and directories to differentiate DLA Piper from its competitors with clearly articulated value propositions.
  • Aiding in follow-up on opportunities to ascertain win/loss status.
  • Supporting maintenance of standard materials in conjunction with BD and Marketing colleagues, ensuring materials are updated consistently post-pitches.
  • Utilizing and instilling discipline in AI among teams to improve both process and content creation.
  • Drafting, editing, formatting and reviewing proposal documents and ensuring the final submission adheres to requirements.
  • Preparing unique content and graphics to be used to enhance proposal and pitch meeting documents are compelling.
  • Sharing ideas to identify creative new ways to enhance proposal and presentation products.
  • Working with groups to ensure the experience standard content is accurate and updated.
  • Providing tailored and formatted experience lists and/or facilitating curated self-service lists.
  • Working with relevant stakeholders on initial drafts of Chambers and Legal 500 directory submissions and coordinating on the project management of process.

Desired skills include:

  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Database experience and knowledge of management systems and presentation software.
  • General understanding of the role of business development within a law firm environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities, as well as solid judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to recommend and implement solutions.
  • Ability to maintain collaborative relationships with team members, marketing professionals, attorneys, pricing staff and others.
  • Growth-mindset and team-oriented to contribute to overall department projects and needs.

Preferred skills include:

  • Bilingual fluent in Spanish.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communication, or related discipline.
  • 2 years' project/production experience to include management of pitches & proposals in a professional services environment.

  • Perform all other duties, tasks or projects as assigned.

Physical demands include:

No immigration sponsorship is available for this position. The firm's expected hiring range for this position is $30.98 - $46.33 per hour depending on the candidate's geographic market location. Non-exempt positions will be paid on an hourly basis and paid overtime in accordance with applicable laws. The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidate's experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
