Retail Product & Pricing Specialist

Maintains the department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and overall profitability. Ensures products are available to the customer in a timely basis and all item parameters are accurately maintained in the product management software.

Accountable and reports to the District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of HWH, Perishables, Store Operations, and eCommerce.

Primary duties and responsibilities include maintaining a positive attitude, creating an atmosphere of friendliness and fun through flexibility and teamwork, generating a friendly atmosphere by encouraging employees to greet and speak to customers, providing prompt, courteous, and efficient service to customers, maintaining department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and overall profitability, providing prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, assisting customers, assisting store management with gross profit analysis and other management reporting functions, ensuring inventory information is accurate, utilizing product management software, ensuring advertised, EDLP, and RDA items are priced and signed correctly, maintaining special buys, performing inventory and pricing verification, working with upper management to determine product placement, reducing obsolete and discontinued inventory, monitoring excess inventory, monitoring and reporting on damage/unsaleable, editing and transmitting replenishment and ad orders, ensuring price changes and product information changes for all items are completed in a timely manner, assisting department managers with questions concerning product management, working with DSD vendors, checking in and balancing vendor invoices, maintaining strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress, adhering to company policies and individual store guidelines, reporting to work when scheduled and on time.

Secondary duties and responsibilities include assisting in other areas of store as needed and performing other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Knowledge, skills, abilities, and worker characteristics include the ability to solve practical problems, variety of variables with limited standardization, interpret instructions, ability to do arithmetic calculations, ability to interview to obtain basic information, guide people to provide basic direction, follow technical manuals, increased contact with people, high school or equivalent experience, strong basic math skills, over six months to one year of similar or related experience.

Physical requirements include the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision, and the ability to perform the following physical activities: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working conditions include frequent exposure to noise, occasional exposure to temperature extremes and equipment movement hazards, and continual exposure to the fast-paced work environment and pressure to meet deadlines.

Equipment used to perform the job includes a Windows-based PC, printer, wireless devices, telephone, fax, copier, calculator, internet, product management software, and Microsoft Office products.

Financial responsibility includes responsibility for company assets including equipment and merchandise.

Contacts include daily contact with customers, suppliers/vendors, and the general public.

Confidentiality includes access to confidential information including store inventory information, item costs, and margins.

The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $17.00 to $21.25 depending on experience.
